Newbie to the Sounds of Sasha

Okay, after about a year or so listening to Tiesto and PVD, I’ve finally gotten around listening to Sasha. Wow, what can I say, different but very, very, very good stuff. I heard a lot hype around the Maida Vale set, so I checked it out, and I’m hooked.

Okay, here’s the problem, I having a hard time getting hold of some Sasha sets, and I thought about buying some on the net from this guy who runs muzikshack.net. I have a really ty computer and I can't download stuff really quickly. So I’m forced into buying livesets on the net. So because I’m new to Sasha, I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good sets that he came out with this year. I have his Maida Vale set, the one he did for Annie Nightingale recently and Part 2 of his set for Proton Radio this year.

I hope you guys can keep it recent because I like the whole Abelton thing and I listened to some of his early stuff, and it not too much to my liking. Any good recent sets that he played that were good?

Thanks

his 2005 essential mix...i didnt like it at first, but it grew on me

That's the Maide Vale set he talked about. Recent sets.. heh.. couldn't help you. School keeps me from getting hardly anything new. Keep an eye on www.djmixes2k.com

They have a bittorrent site on there as well. There's always the standard P2P clients.. and since we're talking live sets here, I don't think I'll get teh ultimate bannanation for mentioning those.

Those are really your only options. Glad you discovered Sasha.. and I know you say you don't like his earlier stuff, but to me, that's his best work. If you haven't heard it already, buy airdrawndagger. It's a masterpiece. Mmmm.. airdrawndagger  :eyespop:

Wasn't that recorded @ Maida Vale studios ;)

Buying live-sets sounds silly .... there are some links for download in the Sasha tracklisting thread here

If downloading really is an issue, try being Sasha - Fundacion NYC (his latest cd, 2005) or Sasha - Involver (2nd latest, 2004)
Airdrawndagger (artist album from 2002) is superb as well but hardly like his sound of these days.

Yeah, man! You'd love Involver. Fundacion.. ehh. I wasn't a big fan but ya never know. You could love it.

And whoever said GU:013. It's a must have.. that was the first Sasha mix CD I ever got and I still can't get enough of it.

Both his GU cd's are superb (considered the best I think) but they are not like what he plays these days tbh ....

Anyway don't buy livesets .... just get them somewhere else

Just wanted to say thank you for the suggestions.

I’m forced to buy livesets because I run on a 56k modem and I have a pretty ty computer that’s years too old. I’m a poor student but I’m saving soon to get a new laptop for class and pleasure with a really good internet provider. I usually buy liveest for a minimum cost every now and then. I also had a couple of problems since download on certain sites and links as well. I was only able to download the first 2 hours of Sasha’s 3 and ½ hour set at Lithuania. My download just stopped for some reason. My local CD store has a really small electronica section and you have to request certain CD’s to come in, but I remembered seeing Involver, so I’ll check that one out. I didn’t see Fundacion, and I listened to Airdrawndagger, a little too slow for me, but I liked Wavy Gravy. I checked out Sasha with Sander Kleinberg in 2001 New York but it wasn't to my liking. Also the other links of that site(Sasha Tracklisting) doesn't work with my computer for some reason.

Anyways thanks for the suggestions so far, keep them coming. The Global Underground one sounds good.

Okay, I don't want to bother but I was just wondering. If their is anyone with recent Sasha Livsets, hopefully ones in played in 2005, and artist ablums. Would you be able to burn a copy and send them to me via mail. I'll be willing to pay for the cost, as I probably going to do this anyways.

I also bought some livset and I have a few Cd's myself that I could burn and swap through mail.

Just a suggestion because I'm going to pay for them anyways.

We hear you, its just the moral and principle that annoys us. Live sets are distributed freely for all to listen by many peoples hard work for the good of the scene, and for some jock to slap a load on that hes downloaded for free and then to charge someone to buy these coz 'his efforts' just makes a mock of it.

You don't have any friends with a fast internet connection that'll let you download a few sets from the Sasha archive? Also, try to get the PlayFM set from 9-3-05. It's 2 hours and is really good.

Also, I'd recommend buying CDs online at amazon or buy.com. You'll spend less than at a CD store and spend less time worrying about ordering through them.
