Snow driver rant

Just came back from an errand and it's snowing outside. I bet not even an inch has fallen and already:

a) people are going 50 on the highway
b) people are braking every 10 seconds for no reason
c) people are disregarding that the passing lane is for passing

The highways still have pavement tracks on them. You can do the speed limit just fine. Why is it that when a flake of snow appears everyone panicks? The actions i just mentioned above are what cause the accidents in semi-inclimate weather.

I could understand if the road were completely snow covered or there was freezing rain/white outs like yesterday.. but COME ON!!!

+1

It seems as if its those people that drive significantly under the speed limit that cause many of the accidents in not-so-poor weather conditions

I almost shot somebody on Highway 8 into Kitchener this morning because they were causing everyone to do 40kph.

Then an ambulance came down.

You can imagine my pain.

It would be much better if everyone drove at the limit, damn the conditions. That way we could spend more of your hard-earned tax dollars on health car and your insurance rates could go up.

I don't know if you have very been in a catastrophic car accident. It's enough to change your outlook on driving, and life.

You will get there, just not as fast as you would like. Have a little patience.

I understand what you're saying and as a general rule, people are pretty good at being more cautious depending on the conditions.

What irritates me, and endangers my driving is those driving less than half the speed limit when conditions dictate that a safe speed is maybe 10 kmph under the limit

Maybe you feel that going at 90 is safe, but that doesn't apply to everyone. I've learned a long time ago that when it's snowing, to leave myself more time for the trip. Chill out, and go with the flow.
