alot of this is just cause he reads crowds very well and is a really good dj, but hes just been playing too much pop trance lately for my taste.
you'll have an awesome time tho |

I'm actually not even going. I got sick of Armin sometime around this past summer. I still like him...but just kind of burnt out right now. Plus, I think he brings too big of a crowd to hold it at Spirit. I hate being packed in like sardines. |

armin appeals to the younger generation of the edm culture. there is nothing wrong with that. he does use his fame to help inspire younger producers to work on music as he has a tendacy to give no-name producers a chance to be heard. that's one of the real mediums of success for armin, he appeals to the younger crowd. it works for him, but doesn't necessarily mean talent wise he's a top notch DJ/producer. I think with age comes experience and with experience you become on a level of playing what you want to play, producing what you want to produce, and that is where the mass appeal lies. not the fact that any wishful thinking bedroom producer might get air'd on ASOT or banged out in with some big room melody.
point being, he uses chance to gain popularity, tracks that reach out to the youth (vocal inspired) and tries to remain as a role model for those that are inspired by his success, and not necessarily gain recognition by his musical talent.
I'm not bashing on the guy, he's an up-n-comer that has proved he can "run with the big dogs" but he's just doing it in a different way. in some peoples opinion, that might be distasteful to true music producers who don't get the same recognition from the public but work equally hard to get to where they are now. |

really interesting...do you think the youth (vocal inspired) is all youth of all generations or is it just this generation. in other words do all vocal inspired music appeal to all youth or just youth of this day and age. |
