i know software synths are just obsession and everyone uses them, even the current pros in the scene do.

but does anyone here hate them? i know they have soo much potential but i just much prefer hands on keyboard with lots of knobs.

am i weird or old school?

what are your current favorite synths and what are the best out there for the 'bang for the buck' ?

anyone would prefer hardware to software but good luck paying for all of that.

Don't worry.....you're not alone. My preference has always been for hardware synths I can just bash out sounds with a hands-on approach without having to worry about MIDI, latency or whatever.

On the other hand, softies are economic and convenient (wish they were as efficient though)....and these days often match or exceed the quality of original analog hardware thanks to a totally digital interface.

It's a tough call, but due to my budget most of my instruments are softsynths.

I prefer good software to crappy hardware too.

Plus you can play softsynths with hardware controllers.

I dun hate it as I find it cool to play ard with it. I stand on both side, i like both hardware and software. Doesnt really cause me much of the prob. When u listen to the music, do you really ask urself is this a soft/hard ware the person is using? hmm...

Thats cool I was just playin around with Software VS Hardware. It is the same patch played with the software Discovery 2 and the hardware Nord 2.

Well, I'm not old school and I love soft synths because hardware's too darn expensive and without them I'd be stuck using Ejay :eyes: :p

Of course there are more people which prefer hardware.

No, everybody has their own approach to making music which is very important. Maybe you should by some hardware midi controller with a lot of knobs to control your softsynths through hardware?

That would be cheaper and could just make you about just as happy ;)

Both hardware and software for the win! Don't be another ignorant technophobe!

To me it's the same whether you use software or hardware as long as the result is good. I use mostly analog hardware synths. I just prefer their sound above others. Then again I (try to) produce Acid hardtrance/-style.
