Major Help Needed – Will this idea for my Thesis work? (Online Poll)

For my thesis, I’m introducing a new class for an Airline Company. Based on my recent travel to Hong Kong and China, I really wish there was this class. Being crammed with no leg room in economy for 36 hours for a direct flight to Hong Kong was a nightmare. This idea of my thesis is still in the rough stages and I need as many ppl’s help to do this poll so I can prove I’ve did my research to provide for this thesis.
Introducing the “Mid Class Service” for Air Canada “Plus” (Example)
Would you be willing to pay 40 – 50 % more to make your traveling experience on Air Canada in the Mid Class section, if it had these services within this new package?
New Aircraft seating layout + chair design for more room (mini bed type)
Better Food & Food Packaging
Uniform design
LCD Monitor + mini keyboard setup w/ internet service (limited)
More Movies & Lic.Video games
Pick up service (Grey Coach - Mall Location)
Personal Telephone Unit (VOIP)
Personal Sirius Unit (Satellite Radio)
More ideas to be added - maybe
You won’t be charged with the crazy price tag of business class, but paying a little more to improve your experiences for whatever traveling you will be doing. I know some of these options are unrealistic, but like I said … this is still in the rough stages.

haha.. I hope you are not using the TA poll as one of your primary sources of information!! :) certainly not as proof!!
This is an interesting idea but what exactly are you trying to prove in your thesis? That it would be potentially profitable for Air Canada (or other airline companies) to introduce this new flight class?
and what's this thesis for? (I'm just curious) |

First off... a direct flight to Hong Kong is more like 16-18 hours, so you're talking about 36 hours in total for the round trip?
No, I wouldn't pay more. I hate airplane food... I hardly touch it. I can survive on chips and pop for a day... no big deal. As for the experience... I'd rather listen to my mp3 player or just watch the movie that's on if it looks interesting. More leg room would be nice but if that's gonna cost me 40% more, no thanks. |

I posted no, but that's because I bring my own stuff to keep myself entertained. I don't see myself using these much.

the biggest factor for me is how comfortable it is.. the changes to seating/space alone could move me to a yes, just not familiar with what you mean in terms of the spacing.. mini-bed do you mean the angled seats that fold down completely?? that i would pay more for if it was a long flight.. |

i think if u fly with a really good book and get lost in it .. u'll soon forget about ur surroundings ..

Unfortunatley you have 50+ years of commercial aviation trends working against you. You'd also have to specify on length of flights, destinations etc. As I think for me that would be a big factor in deciding to upgrade or not.

i posted no because i'm cheap as hell. most of us are students or just starting out.
however, this is a good idea for 35-dead ppl, middle class people. Right now i have more time then money..and would rather suffer for 24 hrs then pay
this won't always be the case, and then an idea like that would be good for me |

what you describe is better than most airlines business class
and 50% is a lot more - so not for me
british airways does offer a "mid class" (world traveller plus) and its a fair bit more than economy, and has nothing what you're describing.
what youre describing at 50% more than normal fare, i think is impossible. some people might be willing to pay for it. but a flight to HK is prolly $1300+ so an extra 50% makes it almost $2000 - id rather spend that $650 in HK. |

Nope. With the financial position that I am in right now, I only want to spend as much as I have to for flight costs. As long as I have a working seat(once had a broken one) and food, I will be satisfied.
I think a lot of people would only be willing to travel in such 'style' if the fare is being paid for by their companies. I obviously cannot speak for everybody, but I am just trying to think of how my friends would consider the same situation. |
