That's the spirit Fir3start3r. You've been too nice to me lately ;) :stongue:. Confrontation time! :disbelief :p

Anyways, to answer your question, actions speak louder than words (in this case, words on paper). I'm too busy right now to research and pull up declassified documents admitting to "destroying another country." Ofcourse you won't find anything phrased in such a manner, you cetainly will find foreign policy agendas which will amount to virtually the same thing. We have one of them in practice rightnow :( (Iraq). Ofcourse, we could debate all day about the various shades of meaning of the phrase "destroying another country."

EDIT: Ofcourse the agenda ITSELF usually isn't to destory another country per se, but it does happen in the process of meeting their objectives.

LOL! :toothless

I figured U.S. foriegn policy would show up as your knight in shining armour...
I guess Western Germany and South Korea got shafted then huh? Weren't they propped by U.S. foriegn policy too?
As compared to their brethren, how are they doing?

I'm not going to pretend all U.S. foreign policy is good, but I think we're comparing apples and oranges.
We're talking about a government (the Hamas) whos mandate is the destrution of Isreal, not as a foreign policy but a reason for their existance.
I sure hope there was some other reason for them being voted in other than that! :nervous:

It was pointed out in another quote in this trhead, and something I saw on the news last night, that hamas has been responsible for building hospitals and schools(what they teach may be questionable??) and maybe houses(?) too.
Their whole platform was certainly not soley about the destruction of Israel - it is just one of their policies. They would be wise to drop it.
Lepanto
They teach that they should destroy all Jews and the west. First hand reports nontheless not some bull internet link :). yes they build hospital to give care to those who can't afford other clinics. a terrorist organization getting into politics? Gee. i wonder why

I should have known this was all about religion to begin with. From what I understand the fight is between the Jewish and Islam. According to the Hamas, an Islam subsidiary, they should have full control over a region they made up from the top of their heads which is now known as historic Palestine. They believe that any non-Muslim (i.e. Jewish Israelis) should not be included at all because it is their land religiously. The Hamas solution to all this is getting rid of Israel as a sort of religious cleansing.

My disgust is that Hamas, a terrorist group, is being recognized in the elections!!! How freakin' weird is that? Imagine Timothy McVeigh (Oklahoma bomber) running for president. This would never happen in the U.S. because we don't let terrorists run for president. I can't believe that nobody over there is finding that not even a bit strange. Besides since when do you integrate religion into politics. From what I read in those articles every decision they make is solely based on religion. I'm telling you they're complete wackjobs over in that Palestine region.

By the way, both are the same exact articles. Either way thanks you two!

Dare I say it, but this might be a good thing. Hamas will now be the official voice of the Palestinian people. It isn't an 'out control milita' that the PA is trying to reign in, it is the PA. As such it's going to have to justify its use of force and negotiations with Israel to the rest of the world.

I kind of get what you're saying. So you suggest putting Hamas to the test. For example, once in power, Hamas can finally address all those issues they've been bitching about these past years and see if they weren't all talk to begin with. Also notice if they live up to their promises, right?

International aid to Palestine will probably cease as a result of all this, which will put some pressure on the govt. The people voted hamas in becausethey are sick of the corruption of Fatah, but in the end Hamas will have to deliver otherwise they will be voted out (if they last that long) at the next election.
they need to prove themself to the people by delivering a better qualtiy of life, more jobs etc. That will help end the desire to destroy Israel if people feel they have a future.

A world without politics or religion would be a world of peace.
