ok, i need some new monitors so i can hook up to my dj gears plus i want to hook it up to my PC for production purposes.

after lots of research, i have found that behringer truth is a good bang for the buck monitors. now i need your help. now im looking at the item to purchase and noticed 4 different kinds.

Behringer TRUTH B2031A Active Monitors
Behringer TRUTH B2030A Active Monitors

Behringer TRUTH B2031P Passive Monitors
Behringer TRUTH B2030P Passive Monitor

first, any difference between the model numbers or is just one newer than the other? whats the difference between active and passive?

thanks in advance
Axolotyl
Passive speakers are powered by an external amp. Active have matched amplifiers inside the speaker. Best to go with active, especially with a monitor as cheap as the Truths. Having an underpowered or incorrectly matched amp can do wierd things to the sound.

i have the b2031p's at home. i just used them for edits and stuff, but IMHO i find them to be suprizingly accurate.

thanks guys. i really wanted a monitor with built in monitor.

does anyone know the difference between these 2 models
Behringer TRUTH B2031A Active Monitors
Behringer TRUTH B2030A Active Monitors

is the B2031A newer version of the other? any differences?

I've heard that before. Is there some specific reason why you say this? Is their quality low or something?

I recently purchased a Behringer patchbay and it was balanced with many options for only $45. I love it, it works perfectly and introduces no noise into my signal path.

as far as I heard is that they are making the lowest quality gear...like their mixer's sliders make strange sounds when moving in about 3 months of usage and so on.

What I heard is taht they put in the lowest quality electronics...and I wouldn't be surprised when I see their pricings...

I don't know, I had experience with gear of different marks, so I can't say from my experience :(

just thought I might warn you here ;)

stefanoc
true. behringer usually makes low quality products. i mean you can get a behringer mixer with 4 channels that looks like the djm600 for 200-300 $ range.

But i never heard anything bad about these monitors. there are a few people here who also recommend this item. they are also used by some professional producers/djs like phynn, menno de jong, ...

im not buying it it cause they are using it though, im just buying it because it seems like a good bang for the buck and i cant stand my PC speakers without the bass control. the thing has so much bass that you cant even mix tracks clearly with it.

please do post if you have any other monitor suggestions, but remember that my budget is low :(

Have you considered the Alesis M1 Active MK2's or the Tannoy Reveal 64's (Active), IMO both good buys for the £250 - £300 mark!

PC :tongue2
