So it is Super Bowl week, I know there's a NFL thread already, but this is just for the bow. Who is going to win? Not who do you want to win, but who will win? Personally, I could care less who wins, but I say the Steelers will win it.
Time to choose :) |

I think the Steelers will win.
They defeated the Bengals, Colts and Broncos and have the momentum on their side. |

Steelers. Bettis will retire winning the Lombardi at home, Detroit. Turnovers and rushing game are going to be decisive: Steelers look very confident, so I'll pick them.
For this game, I like Pittsburgh LB corps and Polamalu, Alexander and Roethlisberger; I don't like Hasselbeck. |

| I'm the only one picking the SeaHags. That's why I'm picking them cuz everybody else has jumped too quickly on the Steelers bandwagon. I really don't like the SeaChickens but it's just a pick. |

No I picked Seahawks to go all the way at the beginning of the Playoffs. I wasn't expecting the Steelers to make it to the Super Bowl, but here they are. I think everyone and their mothers were picking the Colts and Seahawks to contend for World Champs.
anyways, I think Seattle is quite underrated for this Super Bowl. Everyone thinks Pittsburgh is going to win because of thier tough demeanor. The Steelers are the blue-collar working man's team. They're tough and brute strenght really resonates on field. No one gives the lowly two-bit team from up there in NorthWest US any credit.
The Seahawks, in my eyes, have every base covered perfectly, defense, offense, secondary, special teams, etc. Pittsburgh is a tough team, but the Seahawks are poised and ready.
My money's on the 'hawks. |

Look above, I was the only one picking the Hags until you did. That's what I meant. Plus, the polls have about 65% picking the Steelers. I agree with you, they aren't getting respect. I'm from Oregon so I know about the lack of respect for the west coast. |

Yeah i was referring to your post when I wrote that. I agree with your comment about the Steeler Bandwagon effect. It's blossomed moreso here (Washington DC/Northern Virginia area) because I guess people are clinging to a relatively close "home team" now that the Redskins aren't going.
It's funny how at work people want the Steelers to win just because of that very fact. "Washington is not in the SuperBowl, rats! who's the next closest team? Pittsburgh? ok sure i'll root for them, sure why not?"
It's quite aggravating. |

They aren't getting respect b/c they had the easiest schedule of any team this year in the regular season, and they played two wild card teams at home to get into the superbowl.
I think Seattle has the best O-line in football. That said, I have a personal bias against Seattle b/c everybody loves Shaun Alexander so much, when he is not the sole reason they are winning. I'm bitter that he won the MVP over Tiki Barber, who had many more total yards than Shaun behind a much worse line.
heh heh, so out of bitterness I'm picking the Steelers.:wtf:
I also love Jerome Bettis.:) |
