See Tiesto or Buy New House?

Tiesto may be slumming at BT's pad, street walking Hollywood Blvd. for fans and harboring an intense and disturbing jealousy for PVD's new #1 ranking, BUT he is still charging a MASSIVE $83 to see him spin SOLO at Mansion in Miami for the WMC. Last year he was charging $50 for Space-Miami.

Did his skills really get $33 better in 11 months?

How can Tiesto attract any new fans or keep the current ones when every show he plays these days costs the same as a small Japanese car??

And the at-door price will probably be double that.
Even for WMC this is crazy!

Come back to the people Tijs....

It's a supply vs. demand thing....in the end.

I mean, WMC each year is getting massively bigger. That is, tons more people go every year....which makes tickets to events in more demand. Making it easier to increase the price for tickets.

With this party, they could sell tickets for $30, or for $50, or for $75...no matter which way, the place will probably just as packed (or sold out)....so from a business stand point, would be stupid not to charge $75.

armin was $20 last year, $30 this year. god forbid if he becomes #1, he will be more than $40. so, i do not want him to become #1.

in comparison, britney spears tickets were minimum $150 in the days
i wanted to see her. i feel bad for parents.

but, i had most funs at $5 underground shows. those days are long gone, however.

From a business stand point I understand charging big bucks. And I'm sure he will sell out Mansion, even if he charges $150. So Mansion will be full of roid heads and posers and cheesy S. Beach wannabees.
But supply and demand wins out.

BUT over the past couple years its impossible to see Tiesto for anything close to affordable. Charging U2 prices for a DJ is just nuts to me.

Hell, you can see Depeche Mode, Daft Punk and Carl Cox plus 42 others at Coachella for the same $83.

No other DJ is charging anything close to Tiesto these days and its not like he is delivering his best shows "In concert" or otherwise.

It will be a sad day in club land if Top DJs all start charging $75-100; and Tiesto is leading this movement. The result will be clubs filled with non-fans (see above) killing the vibe, while the real fans will be left to spin Search of Sunrise 11 at home.

For a moment, in my tired and loopey state of mind, I thought the title of this thread was; "See Tiesto Buy a New House".

You think he is actually making the price of what the ticket sell for, come on now. He probabbly got 4 offers from each club and as the artists and agent usually make the desision together chose the best one. How can you say he is charging and he makes the price. Like Dave said supply and demand.

This may attract outrage, but I wouldn't pay $20 to see Tiesto. Anywhere he plays, it's way too crowded. I don't like his sound anymore, and wish he was playing like he did in the late nineties and early 2000s. And he's never been a good technical dj. IMO, Armin is far superior in every facet, except when he plays anthem sets. Then his sets can be a bit stagnant, but I think he only plays those sets here, in Denver (many djs play down here, for some reason). $78 is ridiculous, even for a festival with several headliners. The only show that could probably charge that much, and be fair, is Ultra.

I definitely believe in supply and demand and have never disputed that. I think what everyone has been missing is that Tiesto has been whoring himself and it is getting progressively worse.

With his crazy prices for Tiesto In Concert on New Years and now 83.00 for Miami he is alienating his true fan base. I have watched Tiesto since he first blew up and he has been one my favorite DJ’s. Every chance I got to see him I would go. With any good EDM act the DJ and the crowd make the night unforgettable. What I see happening is that Tiesto is going to make himself SOOO exclusive that the true dance fans will stop seeing him.

If he continues charging $150 a ticket you are going to have the Paris Hilton types that have no idea what’s going on. Pretty soon the Tiesto crowd will be packed full of people that just heard it’s the place to be because its costs $$$. This is a major step backwards for EDM in America. IMO

Promoters have the biggest say when it comes to price, but Tiesto isn’t a robot and he can lower his prices to those of PVD and Sasha and other top DJs. If he wants to know why he is becoming so hated in the dance world it has a lot to do with cost.

I think he is doing a massive cash grab before he slides downhill. I guess if that’s his goal then more power to him.
