Eviltree: Well good luck to the guys who must have a girl into Richie hawtin or Steve lawler then.

:haha:

I dunno i just think it is silly. Smoking is a completely different ball game.

I prefer dating myself.

As long as both sides are willing to compromise a bit even if they do not like the other persons style of music.

Now if they will NOT in any shape or form then yeah i can see that being a big problem.

yep. Whenever we go out to a club together we end up so focused on making sure that each other has a good time we end up getting in the way of each other's good time. It's just more fun for both of us to go out without the other.

it's still a preference. why does it bother you what others prefer?

music is a part of many people's lives, and says a lot more about a person than smoking. especially hip hop and trance.

LOL Hey Sonja! Liking your posts recently! :)

I'm in the same situation, only I've been in my relationship for 6 years and I only started attending EDM events in the past year (since Sept/04). I am now engaged to this girl and although she didn't need to tolerate my joy of trance over the past 3-4 years when I'd listen to my burned CDs, now that I like going out and enjoying it live, it does lead to a few issues...some of which you have already experienced from me with the flirting around with awesome fellow-partiers.

We've been in a long distance relationship so it's kind of different, but we still need a strong understanding (like Nikki said above). There also has to be a trust that nothing will go wrong (e.g. strangers buying you drinks that are called blow jobs :p).

At the end of the day, you should be with someone who wants to see you happy, which is exactly why my fiancee supports my need to go out every so often (although she would much rather prefer we spend time together doing romantic girly stuff). Just like Nikki said, there has to be a compromise ;)

Well music does play somewhat of a role but it all depends on the person.

If the girl refused to go to any events that were dance and insisted on only going to her events, that would say much more about that person's selfishness than about the type of music they listen to.

Just as sometimes id be stuck at a hip hop night, id expect her to come to my house parties. Its all about comprimise.

And BTW in my experience all it takes is one good party to convert someone to dance. But the party has to be good and relatively sketch free which in toronto is getting harder and harder to do.

edm is annoying.

id date any girl that can find a middle ground with me in music. usually being rock. this way u can just put it on 102.1 on the car and everyones happy. like seriously who gives a abt music. music isnt everything in a relationship and if it is ur not going far in life, so i wouldnt date ya anyways
