The 200 Greatest Video Games of Their Time

Unless I totally missed it, they didn't even include Commander Keen, which was the forefront for games like Doom and Castle Wolfenstein, both of which became tremendous hits after the Keen series died out.

Bastards. :whip:

+1

these lists are kinda b.s.

however, i feel this one did a pretty good job.

they measured groundbreakingness of the games, like, in terms of story line and technical improvements.

kinda like how starwars, the storyline was kinda sucky, but in terms of cinemaphotography and special FX, it still blows away some movies even today.

so i give this list some props.
Aureus
+2 for including River City Ransom & Bionic Commando!
Psygnosis
what a stupid list, they didn't even include Xenogears. Gotta be kidding yourself! Definetly in the Top 10 games ever.

haha. this list is gonna draw the same controversy as the dj mag top 100 dj's list. lol.

Ask any hardcore PC first-person shooter fan how to play their favorite genre and they'll always respond 'keyboard and mouse.' And yet Halo controls flawlessly on the Xbox controller, proving to an entire generation that the genre is doable on a console. Millions of gamers can't be wrong.

stupidest opinion ever. anyone that thinks halo was brilliant or that it compares to any decent PC FPS shooter is an idiot child who's been playing games for all of 5 minutes.

and did i miss it or was there not 1 wonderboy title? puh-lease.

maximum respect for including herzog zwei though! the first RTS i ever encountered.

PC FPS Games are a true aim for accuracy. Who aims with their thumbs? still joystick mentality....using a mouse to control aim is more realistic then using ur thumb to scroll up and down, not to mention an "analog" stick on any console gaming unit is essentially an old school joystick, there is less precision in a joystick over a mouse.

i've been playing kill zone on ps2 and i'm having a hard time adapting to using the analog to aim.

i guess its because i was a huge counterstrike player so aiming with a mouse is more realistic than an analog and R1,R2 buttons.

MARIO KART RULEZ!!!

also glad to see Final Fantasy 3 was on there [altho i would have ranked it higher]. FF7 was amazing too.

no surprise that Super Mario Brothers was #1. Really tho, Tetris should have been. mario is great and all - but tetris was THE video game when it first came out.

other notables:
Super Mario Bros 3 - i actually liked that one more than the first.
Mega Man 2 - YES! +classic+ mega man game.

ah back in the days of NES/SNES.
