POP trance?? (pg. 3)

why can't Tiesto, Above & Beyond, Armin, G&D not be labelled as pop trance? it's just what it is. Popular trance which appeals to the broad mass. If you ask anyone into trance what he/she listens to the majority will propably reply with the mentioned names.
Seems like those who listens to Tiesto, Armin etc see this as something negative. it doesn't have to be.
People who listens to U2 know they listen to pop and they know it appeals to a broad mass.

the problem with the term 'pop' is that its all relative. whereas a&b are pop in comparison to most trance, they're pretty much underground when compared with what is normally regarded as pop music in the charts. this is why some people get uptight about it... since it can be seen as putting them on the same level as chart acts, when in reality all trance has a much more limited appeal in the first place & doesn't get anything like as much promotion

if your going to listen ot pop trance you might as well listen to eurodance as well.. the vocals are funner and better sync'd to teh songz

What about it? There are no lyrics to this song, hence this song is not Vocal Trance. Are you sure you know what vocal trance is? "Chopped up"? Heh....do you mean the multi-tap delay effect on the wailing? .....yes, welcome to the world of Progressive Trance. This is actually a decent tune.

But that's beside the point. We're talking about VOCAL trance here....as in actual verses, bridges, and choruses, in word form, delivered in a smarmy, snobbish tone by some silly poptart as if she was singing about something deep and meaningful.

Like, say...Lange - I believe or Ascension - Someone. Or Oceanlab - Satellite. My god, that one's just horrible. Makes me throw up in my mouth.

No it's not. There's a concrete definition to what is pop and what is not, and I'd tell you what it is but apparently SOME people around here who read every flippin' thing I say ten times a day say I'm getting too repetitive, so you're on your own from now on. Try searching for "Ishkur" and "pop music" though.

Yes. There's no such thing as good vocals in trance.

:stongue: what a retarded statement...

BT - Dreaming
Sasha & Maria - Be As One
BT - Remember

nope but nice rebuttal.

Remember is a pretty horrible example of BT's vocal efforts- although he has done a couple of good ones. Sunblind keeps the singing largely in the background to the production wizardry, and Nectar has that lovely vocoded loop that blends in seamlessly with the music.

I wouldve listed abunch of other BT tracks but according to Ishkur if its chopped up its not considered a vocal track..
