Did I say that? ...or is your reading comprehension that crappy?
Here's a rule of thumb: Any track with Jan Johnston or Kirsty Hawkshaw discharging their diva-ism all over it can be thrown into the dustbin without a single listen. It's a Fine Day is one of the most annoying ing songs ever.
In fact, I'm sick of "songs" entirely......let's get back to making "tracks". |

However, if you reverse it and throw in some pianos and pads and you get a classic! |

it's late and i'm too stoned to be checking all them out so i'll take your word for it :p
i basically implied that A&B may produce pop trance but i'd scarcely call them popstars who make pop music, in the general scheme of things. like when you pit them up to the likes of britney spears, justin timberlake, kelly clarkson etc. i despise their music anyway so it's not like it makes much difference to me either way
whatever your definition is, i disagree that the elements/style of a track define how 'pop' it is... moreso the the commercial aspect & the marketing behind it. say if some kid makes a little amateur uplifting trance tune in reason to upload for free online, and decides to record a female friend singing on it just for fun... would that still make it pop music? or on the other hand, if there was this ed up instrumental electro-house type tune sounding miles away from anything pop-like, that happened to land itself on a tv advert, get given a quirky image, get signed to a major, promoted loads and end up getting pushed out for a full-scale chart release... surely that would make it pop music?
i'm pleasantly surprised you rated bouncebackability :wtf: |

What about it? There are no lyrics to this song, hence this song is not Vocal Trance. Are you sure you know what vocal trance is? "Chopped up"? Heh....do you mean the multi-tap delay effect on the wailing? .....yes, welcome to the world of Progressive Trance. This is actually a decent tune.
But that's beside the point. We're talking about VOCAL trance here....as in actual verses, bridges, and choruses, in word form, delivered in a smarmy, snobbish tone by some silly poptart as if she was singing about something deep and meaningful.
Like, say...Lange - I believe or Ascension - Someone. Or Oceanlab - Satellite. My god, that one's just horrible. Makes me throw up in my mouth.
No it's not. There's a concrete definition to what is pop and what is not, and I'd tell you what it is but apparently SOME people around here who read every flippin' thing I say ten times a day say I'm getting too repetitive, so you're on your own from now on. Try searching for "Ishkur" and "pop music" though. |
Ish, look I do belive Lange ment something when he made I belive.
Ascension - Someone just connects with my feelings sometimes though I realize it's cheesy as ing hell.
Ocenlab - Satellite is crap but Ocenlab - Sky Falls Down (AvB remix) is amazing.
You can't say that all vocal trance is popish.
Mercury & Solace for example IS AMAZING. However I can't really like any other original BT track other then it (remixes are fine).
Sarah McLachlan for instance is a pop vocalist.
She writes her own lyrics, she has a voice of an angel, she has very emotional songs.
Yeh some of her songs like adia and when she loved me ect. is crap.
But try BT's remix of I Love You. And no it's not cheesy as you may think. The original is even better sometimes. It depeands on my mood.
Vocals can affect the mood of a track if they are well written.
Have you ever heard Tiesto's Battleship Grey?
I admit tiesto is crap now. But back then, those kind of tracks made me like the dude as an artist.
I was a fan once but I didn't go all over him lol.
For some reason his mixing was wayyyy better 6 years ago.
Anyway I agree that vocals can be cheesy ass crap thingy that doesn't contribute to the track (AvB - Shivers, yeh I get shivers before I puke...).
Omer.
p.s.
You should post more. |

You know, you guys aren't doing your arguments any favours by promoting such limp-wristed turds as exemplary of vocal trance's expressive ingenuity.
Still waiting, and looking, for that one gem. Prove me wrong!
(post lyrics, too. It's funny to read them out loud in a deadpan voice, like Norm McDonald or Steven Wright) |

I think Space Brothers do pretty good vocal stuff with not totally dumb lyrics. Plus their vocalists are no divas but actually good singers.
The Light:
We are the wings of goodness
We are the cloak of sin
We are the higher order
We are the voice within
We are the realms of darkness
We are the doors of time
We are the fragile senses
We are the corners of the mind
We are the tears of passion
We are the winds that blow
We are the seeds of progress
We are the wisdom of the soul
We are the earth
We are the universe
We are the light
We are the deepest oceans
We are the endless stars
We are the wild emotions
We are the wounded heart
We are the flame of freedom
We are the sacred prize
We are the love of angels
We are the workers of the light |
