The infamous "Let's just be friends"

I know that once your game evolves you won't be hearing this anymore, and it shouldn't even matter if you do. But.. say you do hear the infamous LJBF, whats the most solid response? I've heard various opinions, some say just shrug it off like you don't care and she will come back. Others say that it could be bad timing so just say "yeah we already are friends" but act the same. What do you think?
This has happened to me recently, except it wasn't bad timing. I totally had this girl in the bag but I ed up by letting her bitch shield get to me and I acted like an , which she didn't like. So i got the LJBF. She said it was bad timing and for now we should be friends but she can't predict the future. My response was "i already have enough friends", but i'm second guessing. Maybe I should've said "yeah that's cool, i can't really see us being more then friends anyway" and been her friend while acting the same, minus getting her bitch shield get to me which i'm really disappointed in myself for.
Basically my question is: Whats the most solid response for a LJBF? |

| Dont try and date girls with a "bitch shield." Best way to avoid LJBF. |

Girl: Let's just be friends
Me: Friends... With benefits?
Girl: No. Just friends
Me: Wanna get high and make out in my car?
Girl: sure |

My prefered reply would be... "well, we never were friends to begin with and I'm not really interested in being your friend so I respectfuly decline."
When a woman pulls the "lets be friends" line what she's really saying is "I want to keep you around for the non-sexual stuff but don't want to have any physical relationship with you because I'm not attracted to you, I want to some other dude, or you suck." Either that or she's saying "I really want nothing to do with you but I don't have the heart to say that to you so I'll pretend that I want to be your friend so you can take some small consolation out of this whole thing." |

Listen to this dude. He is right. Say sure and dont call her at all. If you see her out in public be cool to her. If you want the easy route/safe route move on. |

it depends on the situation...
#1: a girl you already know - in that case you should respond with the honest truth. are you friends already? were you just pretending to be friends with her just so that you can try to hook up with her?
#2: a girl you just met - in this case, maybe starting off as friends first is a good way to get to know her better. you can't really say "no i don't want to be your friend" when you don't even know the person... and there's always the chance that romantic/sexual feelings will develop as the friendship progresses.
but then again, girls are sketchy and i think most of the time the words "let's just be friends" actually mean "sorry, i'm really not interested, but i don't want to be mean to your face" |

| yeah, LJBF is pretty much a guaranteed dead-end. Invest your time and effort into building a romantic relationship with a new girl, preferably one without a BITCH SHIELD!? |

I wouldn't want to be around someone who suppresses their feeling for a person. Whether it be good, or bad feelings. |

i agree 100%, and i wish more girls (and guys) would be upfront and honest about what they really want. i think the main problem though is that the majority of younger people who are playing the field don't really have a clue about what they really want... so they leave all options open until they find something that makes them happy. |
