Is this based on any particular facts? Or experiance? |

I've played on technics and geminis (tho not that exact model) are pretty solid, totally fit to purpose.
For me if it is between say 0 records and technics and say 100 records and geminis I know exactly what I'd pick! |
I guess we just don't see eye to eye then. :)
Personally, I am glad I took the route of getting the better equipment first. It may have left me a little low on cash and only allowed me to mix with a few records but that really forced me to practice and really get down beat matching before going crazy with dozens of records and effects. It has been a few months now and I have gotten very comfortable with the beatmatching thing. Over the course of that time I have also saved enough money to start endulging myself with records! I spose it all depends on what type of route you want to take but I say go with getting something that you know will last and take your time. It really isn't a hobby you can simply just jump into and become a pro at the next day. :) |

Hehe, yup I was stung a bit. One deck had a cracked tonearm - unnoticeable until taken apart, but made slip cueing extremely difficult. They are servicable mahcines though - there are several shops in my area that advertise technics repairs (don't say anything about other models) and parts are easy to get hold of when they break (which is not very often).
I spent a lot of money on equipment early on, but there was a good reason for that. I was on the edges of the EDM scene, and only knew about the most popular music. As I learned about the music, my tastes changed faster than I could keep up. Records I'd bought only 2 weeks ago were already behind. So, whilst my colleciton was still small, I began setting all my money aside for equipment whilst I listened to more DJs, went clubbing more, and learned. Now, I've got an excellent setup and a growing collection, but I've amassed some knowledge for me to be able to records that I won't hate by next week. I think I did the right thing - it worked for me. Different for everyone though.

Ok, Does everyone here thinks that Numark TT1650 is better than the Gemini TT-02? they are almost the same price, so i can afford numark. Let me know asap if you guys think the numark is a better choice, so i can call the shop and let them change my order.
or Numark TT200 :( then i will be in debt. but atleast they wont die on me soon. |

Yeah but their mixers are a different story to their decks though. I wouldn't buy:
Mixers
Headphones
PA stuff
But if you buy their better decks they are fine (or atleast they used to be when I played on them).
Stanton also do decent decks. |
