If he is guarding hell, then he will lie and say that the other guard is guarding hell.
If the guard you ask is guarding heaven, then he knows the other guard will lie and say heaven, so therefore he will say heaven.
And psyT, I don't know what the hell you are on mate, but it's just a puzzle...and I did word it correctly 'he ALWAYS lies'. You don't need to read into it so deep... |

It's just a logical puzzle man, you don't need to read into it so much. I heard this on the Ricky Gervais show, and you sound like Karl Pilkington, here were some of the things he said:
"Would they really be neighbours like this?"
"Ok the question I would ask is ...is God in? I have a parcel for him."
"In this case I would go with gut instinct, even with identical twins there is always a snidey one."
"Can't I just have a poke around the doors, see which one feels hot?"
You, like Karl, are clearly a madman. |

apparently you are, either that, or you have problems with reading comprehension.
my only mistake was assuming lying means deceiving, and that's far from being the only path i tried at. |

That was it almost word for word from the podcast...I really don't see your point, all the information was there, you chose to start talking and saying the hell-guard shouldn't have to lie all the time.... |

under the (false) assumption that lying means deceiving, the use of the word 'always' is critical.
disregarding that, you placed the guards at their respective doors, which again opened the way for many more answers than you had intended. |
