There is a reason Robert Moses built those bridges so low on the highway to Jones Beach...figure it out. |

don't get me wrong, everyone is completely onpoint with their comments..i'm just saying, this is NYC, yes you can drive to a ski resort (i do) and i believe a Surf Park is in the works for NYC sometime in the near future but with such an entertainment industry, wouldn't you think this would prove nyc to be even better than what it is....
honestly you wouldn't find washington heights kids running around such a place. look at dubai, i'm sure there is more poverty there than washington heights, yet they do a decent job regulating it's target audience...so the membership fee does narrow down the demographic...
i appreciate your opinion, it's completely obvious to feel the way you do |

I think that NYC is above cheap water parks...which is what this is.
We have amazing restaurants, musuems, cafes, buildings, fashion, schools, parks, skyline, people, shops, writers, monuments, sports etc etc etc...adding something like an "Action Park" for the new millenium, to me, is below what NYC stands for. |

From a surfer's perspective, i wouldn't think a "cheap water park" is what would be instore for this facility. It'd be a park dedicated to surfers (similar to japan) where you would indeed SURF! I mean I snowboard and surfing has grown as a huge interest to me. I wouldn't be promoting such an "action park" in nyc as my interest lay a bit outside the ordinary sit in a tube and slide down into a pool mentality. i enjoy extreme sports... =)
*edit*
and yes japan has done it, they build this surf park right next to a legitmate beach
LOL =P |

| I guess you are right and the indoor extreme sports would be cool...like being able to surf and maybe even snowboard...but the beach is still cheap...lol...so i am half with ya;) |

unfortunately we've been headed in this very direction for the past 10 years. disneyfication + gentrification + war on nightlife & independent culture have made nyc a metropolitan eunich, resembling anytown usa... |
