yeah but on the other hand you can't compare Horizons with this. Horizons, Solstice and Innerspace plays in a different league.

Because its not trance?

Not his best work imo, especially the remix. That's just plain boring.

The dub however is one great piece of music

I never found Horizons to be anything special, it sounds too simple and relies too much of a predictable melody pattern. Not saying its a bad tune because its definitely not, but i think it got praised too much. Holden is capable of so much more.

I think its a good thing he moved on to produce what he does best, tracks like Solstice, I Have Put Out The Light, Kaern Turned, First Light, A Break In The Clouds, Narcotik, Innerspace and a whole lot of his remixes from that time, not to mention Fear Of A Silver Planet, Balance 005 and his Essential Mix 2002. For me Holden was at his best around 2001-2003. Nowadays he's completely lost in a style that doesnt suite me at all, the exception being Come To Me.

I never really understood the fuzz about Holden being a 'genius' for his newer remixes like Safari, The Sky Was Pink and his Britney remix for example, but the mob seems to think this is the case so i guess it's just me. I just never found it danceable or very interesting to listen to.

+1 for the dub, sounds like someone mashing random buttons & controls in a studio

the vocal mix is pretty solid though, awesome climax to it

That makes no sense. The producer is the one and the same; James Holden. And he made those earlier tracks with less experience, skills and lesser quality software and hardware. My point still stands.

I think that you guys are missing the point of this track. The original was sick to begin with. I think that the "ing about with equipment" was actually where he STAYED with the original. In my opinion, this is where you need to listen to the original before you can fully appreciate what James did with the remix and the dub.

The Darkest Star is the last track to a really REALLY dark (and awesome) album by DM, and prefectly so. James just cranked it up a notch with these remixes.

I love it. :D
