Mon dieu...Krinker ki me dit que j'aime pas Sven :wtf:...I don't know how many times I have listened to his 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and now 6th Season albums...I watched the DVD that came with his 5th Season religiously all summer long...I think I'll judge what I like and what I don't. There are for sure certain styles and sounds I don't want to give an opinion on because I haven't focused on them enough yet but Sven Vath does not fall into this category. At all.
It's true that I'm still pretty new to the scene. Fine. But don't say that I hardly know what EDM is and again, anyone who knows me outside of TA knows that EDM is what I eat, sleep and breathe on a daily basis. I devote so much time to it so ya, I think I know at least a bit about it.
And Krinker, I'm always willing to learn, I'm open-minded about new sounds, new DJs, new anything EDM related. And in my books, being open minded about EDM is key to properly learning the art of it altogether. |

Exactly the same thing happened to Taha, he said he would Always like Trance and that he would never become a house lover like I am ... yet he has become.
you see there's a patern with noobs and Edm and it goes a little something like this
1) you get introduce to it by your friends, or by music in a bar
2) you start going out more often and you discover drugs
3) you think that you really really really like it, yet you don't really understand that it's all because of the drugs and you listen to anything without any regards to genre
4) since you're doing way too much speed you now like harder styles ( like techno, hardcore and such )
5) you grow tire of hard music and you seek refuge in the tender loving arms of cheesy music ( either trance or house )
6) you start understanding that there's much more than drugs
either
7) you get tired of it since you stop using drugs
or
7) you go back to your roots of Edm and you find what you really like
From the answer you've given in the last year i'd say you're somewhere between steps 2 and 4

I never said that taste IMPROVES with time, I said that in general, people's tastes become more narrow with time, like, people become more picky with what EDM they will listen to with time because you discover things you just don't like. Discoveries like that can only happen when you are open minded. If you only listen to one kind of EDM, you'll never know if there's something out there you love even more or really hate with a passion.
I never told anyone what to listen to. Ever. I'll make suggestions sure, and I'll try to justify why I suggested it, of course, but never more than that.
I PERSONALLY like a lot of the tracks Sven plays.
I didn't start the topic of "I Love Sven", but I will support it as much as I want to because exactly as you said, it is a free board.
Where have you been? I said I'm up for "broadening my horizons" as you call it and all along this (now pointless) discussion, I have been in total agreement with the "respect of other people's tastes". I love that not everybody likes what I like. Otherwise, it would suck.

I said I have found a style of music that I really like and that fits my tastes...Prog-Electro. Yes, it is the popular trend, fine, but that's not why I like it.
I do try to listen to as much EDM as possible but I never try to like what everyone likes. I even said that "it's a feeling...you know right away if you like it or not, you shouldn't try to like anything". At least, that's how it's worked for me.
I won't shut the f*ck up on this board because once again, as you said, it's a free board. I already do listen to music, thanks. And if my tastes happen to fall into what is "popular" right now, then so be it. I'm not ashamed to say to anyone who my favourite DJs are or why they are my favourites. |
