In all honesty, Erika, listen to Krinker he speaks the truth. You are EXTREMLY new to EDM and just cause you party every wknd doesnt mean you know anything. The fact that you spent hours everyday on Ta also doesnt mean you know anything. Even the fact you spend much of your day listening to music doesnt mean you know much at all about EDM.
The fact is the majority of the people on TA LOVE EDM. Most have been into it FAR longer than you. I have actaully been into electronic music since i was 15, so coming up to 4 years now. I know what I like and I know what I dont like. I certainly dont know all that much, but at least have the sense not to whore myself to every single dj that someone mentions.
So believe it or not Krinker is being extremely harsh but totally honest. All that being said Sven actaully DOES suck. |

I never said that taste IMPROVES with time, I said that in general, people's tastes become more narrow with time, like, people become more picky with what EDM they will listen to with time because you discover things you just don't like. Discoveries like that can only happen when you are open minded. If you only listen to one kind of EDM, you'll never know if there's something out there you love even more or really hate with a passion.
I never told anyone what to listen to. Ever. I'll make suggestions sure, and I'll try to justify why I suggested it, of course, but never more than that.
I PERSONALLY like a lot of the tracks Sven plays.
I didn't start the topic of "I Love Sven", but I will support it as much as I want to because exactly as you said, it is a free board.
Where have you been? I said I'm up for "broadening my horizons" as you call it and all along this (now pointless) discussion, I have been in total agreement with the "respect of other people's tastes". I love that not everybody likes what I like. Otherwise, it would suck.
F*ck you for saying I'm dumb.
I said I have found a style of music that I really like and that fits my tastes...Prog-Electro. Yes, it is the popular trend, fine, but that's not why I like it.
I do try to listen to as much EDM as possible but I never try to like what everyone likes. I even said that "it's a feeling...you know right away if you like it or not, you shouldn't try to like anything". At least, that's how it's worked for me.
I won't shut the f*ck up on this board because once again, as you said, it's a free board. I already do listen to music, thanks. And if my tastes happen to fall into what is "popular" right now, then so be it. I'm not ashamed to say to anyone who my favourite DJs are or why they are my favourites. |
I think his point is, you have no been into EDM long enough to speak as if you know anything at all. Right now you love everything, and yes its cause you go out every wknd and take drugs. Also like krinker says, its a phase...
and stop playing this double standard where everyone should respect what you like, but not be allowed to say we dont like it. How is that NOT a double standard. |

I don't understand these people, Tag, Lopi (Alex) and KriNker, who are convinced that Sven is such a bad DJ that they think that people who like him either a)take drugs b)are noobs. The only people who outright hate him are you three on this board. Everyone else is a hard core drug addict noob? Hahahahahahahahhaha.
It's fine that you don't like Sven's sound, it's your taste, and the only reason why I sometimes post like audible impairments or whatever is to reply to even stupider posts like Die Sven Dieeeeeee.
Why are you so pissed at people liking this DJ? Who gives a ing if the dude pops pills like a maniac and that he gets ed every night? Does it affect you in any way? Why do you give a ? Because we praise the guy so much? Have you ever thought that we like him only because of his music, like we like any other DJ?
I can speak for myself only, but my introduction to Sven Vath was when I didn't hear one note from his set or his productions and I bought his Fireworks album remixes back in Serbia becuase it was an edm album from a DJ i have heard of for 3 dollars. I was as sober as Tag (these days) and I loved it. I bought his 5th season in New York coming back to Montreal and still as sober as The New-And-Improved-Drug-Free-Tag, I listened to it and ing couldn't believe how ing amazing it was. Once I saw the DVD that Erika mentioned, that was it and Sven was officially a DJ I would take interest in.
[NOTE to TAG: So yeah, instead of telling people they like DJs because of drugs I think you can better focus your energy on some anti-drug campaigns going on there in Ottawa]
Since then..everything Sven's done I loved, including his most recent sets like the one in Romania and I can't wait for him to come to Montreal. Every single one of my friends who loves EDM, appreciates his music (if not loves it as much as I do). I really don't care if he pops 12 pills and pukes at the end of the night. That's his personal and you shouldn't care as much as I don't.
Alex; you only like one song from that set? So out of these
07. Serge Santiago - Atto d'amore,Dub version
22. Depeche Mode - Precious,Motor Rmx
24. Väth vs. Rother - Komm,Gregor Tresher Rmx
26. Oliver Koletzki - Mückenschwarm, David K Rmx
29. Depeche Mode - A Pain That I'm Used To,Jacques Lu Cont Rmx
30. Rex The Dog - We Live In Daddy's Car
39. Ame - Rej
48. Gregor Tresher - Still
50. Tomas Andersson - Washing Up,Tiga Rmx
you only like one? What, Rex the Dog? Are you SERIOUS???
Come on dude, please don't tell me his tracklists suck becuase there's nothing more that will make you seem more like a n00b, than that.

NOT what was intended when this thread was started. Whatever I despise all the closed-minded bashing, but I must say MTLTA was getting ing boring before this explosion of flameage. |

It is absolutely fair if you don't like what he plays or his style of mixing.
(Tho...I have to disagree that he has followed trends - I truly believe what he says in his interview, that he plays what he enjoys, what crowds enjoy, and what music speaks to him. If he were playing trends, he wouldn't vary his sets so much....he would stick to electro house, or minimal, or whatever.)
What really bugs me is people who REFUSE to give credit where credit is due. I don't like tiesto, but I can respect the fact that he is an icon, and must be doing something right to have a billion people following him around and being totally crazed about him. He has a formula that WORKS. it doesn't work for me, but it works for many many others.
Sven has been DJing for 25 years. THAT IS MORE YEARS THAN MOST OF YOU JERKS HAVE BEEN ALIVE. He has completely devoted his life to dance music and has been exceptionally successful in it. Whether you don't like his records or his style, you still have to respect someone who has achieved so much success for so many years. |

a jerk would be saying sarah mixington is the lamest dj moniker ever second to dj paddington bear.I'm sorry skipper, your mix was awesome but that name is gonna hold you back and i just couldnt hold it in anymore.
I mean it in the best of ways while maintaining a decent amount of flame

did you post that expecting me to take it personally?
Actually, I took it as a compliment if you thought my mixes were good. To me what matters is music...I couldn't care less what you think of my DJ monikker. |

|
| all-nite-freak |
no quite the contrary..
i think you are good at mixing but have chosen a name with absolutly no marketing possibility. You might not care but do you pay to see yourself?
As silly as it sounds every time i think of the name i think of Mary Poppins delaying records while singing Spoon Full Of Sugar.
How many Dj's go beyond their talent with marketing???cough..hack..tiesto...cough.
it wasnt meant as a total attack but as a wake an bake observation. |
