Sounds like alot of us TAs are OCD about naming files a certain way. I doesnt explain it though... if most of use are anal about how we name files why are most files that I download needing to be renamed. I find it really time consuming...sometimes I get lazy, and dont bother to rename the file when I download it,.... and after a month, i have 200-300 files to rename, it takes me hours...
Also, does anyone know how I can convert a list of songs/files from Microsoft Explorer to a word processor or spreadsheet? I know that through Winamp you can make and HTML copy of your songs, but the songlist it makes is taken from the ID3 tags, and most of my songs have been archived on MP3 discs so I cant modify the tags anymore... any suggestions please PM me.... Thanks. |
ok open up winamp ... go into preferences and under the 'options' tab... u'll see the "read titles on" options ... select the "play" option... c where i'm going???
in case u didnt get it... winamp will now display the titles of only the file currently playing :) hehe
now all u have to do is bung a file with a valid tag from the cd and bung in the rest... they'll still have the .mp3 at their end (thats one setback)... but it's worth it i guess... and then u can create ur playlist...
THANK U...THANK U... thats 3 yrs of fooling around with the software...
cheers!!

i hate how no one who distributes files seems to care about the file name. with the amount of stuff i download, this tends to be a real pain in the ass. i have 25gb of music to rename, then run the mass tag editor on it.
what a pain in the ass. |

what a great feeling it is to display the knowledge you aguired through a long time preiod of torture and anguish. that happens all the time where i will always be so pissed cuz this ONE thing doesnt work right and then finally i realize that its the dumbes reason ever and go, "OH YEAHHHH!" and the i find every opportunite to display my competence to redeem myself for all the pain i infliced by NOT reading the help file. HAHAHAHA :toothless

| Oh yeah ... I was doing that organisation thing too when I first had to do with mp3s. But it annoyed me very soon. Now I have only a few subdirectories in my folder to split the music into different genres but that's all. I don't have so much mp3s to get really confused with 'em :p |

| the same with me. i also have a very organized directories structure (a-la *nix): d:/var/mp3/trance/singles/a-m/artist - songname (remix).mp3 |

don't worry, I do the same thing...... for example:
DJ Tiesto - Sparkles [Transa Remix]
I rename all my files that way, and then take off all ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags. I don't like having those tags, I like having my mp3 neat and clean ;) |
