dude if your the filename nazi call me ing hitler.. i must have everything sorted which is a bitch for big albums :)
Jah
i also dont get why vinyl rips are_always_like_this_jah_2002 fair enough if you want your tag but its a bit excessive...

Good god, I'm an mp3 file nazi.

50 gigs of mp3's. Divided into 10 categorized folders.

Each has perfect spelling, perfect casing. I mark live sets specially with @ such as Paul Oakenfold - Live @ Home.

ID3v2 tags have all been individually changed.

I spend as much time organizing my mp3's as I do downloading them :eyes:

UNfortunately I do not have an mp3 renaming file. I'm really anal about my mp3's as well. The first letter of every word has to be capitalized and the spacing needs to be right. Ok let me stop before you all think i'm psychotic. >_<
sauce_policy
haha i'm the same way as the rest of you guys. no _ underscores i hate that. spacing must be perfect both in tag and file name. album and track number must be in tag! (if i know it). here's my method.

[Artist] - Track (Remix).mp3
love those brackets

hey what do you guys do with a track that's mixed off an album, like say The Swimmer - Purple Cloud off of Magik 7. It's mixed by tiesto, so I put
[DJ Tiesto] - The Swimmer - Purple Cloud

I'm debating with myself whether or not to do that. :p

superb I am getting the MP3 Tag updater now

I was getting well pissed off having to do each one at a time

+ why the hell can people not put proper tags in when they make the MP3? I mean it dont take very long now does it?

I hate renaming files like this
"artist_name-song_title__name_remix-promo_vinyl-2002-xxx.mp3"

I turn it into
"Artist Name - Song Title (Name Remix).mp3"

Don't even get me started about comments in the id3's!

My hard drive got cleand of it's MP3's, so I have to redownload it all again. It's getting brutal now. Categories within categories, followed by artist folders, followed by track/cd/liveset folders.

All MP3s with both Tags, proper year, genre, and if applicable, album and track number.

Spending a lot of time doing it however.

Yea I'm really anal about organizing and renaming my mp3's. It makes me really frustrated when I see other people's mp3's all in disorder. I feel like pulling out my hair. Sometimes when they aren't looking I try to rename a few of them just for my sanity. :nervous:

The reason files are named like that ( artist_name_song_title.mp3 ) is because a lot of servers / websites do NOT recognise spaces, so having a normal file name on a site would either
A: make it undownloadable cos u would not be able to get the correct file name
or
B: The site or server automaticly replaces the spaces with %20% so when u download the file it would look like this artist%20%name%20%song%20%title.mp3

so to make it easier for u to download the files, the uploader names the files with underscores instead of spaces.

I am the same way
Caps, spacing, artist & title seperated with a space and a - and another space, also do the same for id3 tags, and make sure date, genre and everything is correct.

There is another good program I use called TFM Tag Editor Pro

lets u mass assign id3 tags leaving out the fields u check off
some bugs though in the program
anyways, glad in not the only mp3 neat freak ;)
