So Canadian values are to smoke pot? Awesome! Man we should be really proud of that.
Don't get me wrong; I like to smoke pot (I'm high right now, doing homework and posting on TA at 1pm), but knew that once the Conservatives come in the chances of pot getting decriminalized are going to be slim to none. |

I'm not surprised. I find it funny that he (unless misquoted, which is possible) lumps marijauna use into the category of "serious crime".:rolleyes: Ah yes...conservatives! Why does anyone even CARE anymore if people smoke a joint? It's literally part of our culture now anyway...at least among many people. Personally, I'm not a huge pot fan but I'd even advocate full legalisation. The government could make some serious coin off it...although it would draw more criticism from the Yanks.
Even though Canadian penalties are much more lax than the US concerning drugs, I think we're still too hard on people with small amounts of whatever. Even the more "serious" drugs like coke, e, k, etc...I mean come on...if I"m walking around with half a gram or a few pills, is that REALLY worthy of jail time? Depending on what province you're in, you could be looking at that. Someone told me that if you have more than one E pill on you, you can be charged with attempted murder. Now I'm not sure if that's true, but Jesus Christ! Moronic. Some people take ten in a night for themselves!
I think you'll see attitudes start to change when our generation takes power though, in the next few decades. |
