Crobar and Spirit... List your loves/hates!

allo! as you can see, this is NOT a poll...this is an (intelligent) discussion. i'm really curious to know why we either love or hate crobar or spirit and why. i'll begin.
No biting, pinching, eye-gauging or nipple-clamping. And no "yo momma is so fat" jokes. Let's have a clean fight boys! :D
i really like spirit bc:
1> sound system is good
2> only experienced a bad crowd there once
3> staff is very friendly
4> love the setup
5> love the fact that upstairs is not considered VIP and that old folk like me can rest our feet up there.
6> really dark! and i like the light guy.

i really don't like crobar bc:
1> too many nights where i experienced slimy guys with no shirts on slither past me whereas i then cringe while feeling their stubby arms/chests; too many really bitchy girls who think they own the place and literally push others aside if they feel the slight invasion of some invisible personal space barrier.
2> don't like their staff, especially the door guy or the crazy dennis-rodman-but-20-years-old-moonlight-as-a-pimp-lookin-guy.
3> hate the booth. (no matter where the they put it.)
4> too much light! <-- edit
5> save the best for last: no place to sit in main room at all unless by a miracle, the upstairs section doesn't require an "i'm special" bracelet.
i DO like crobar bc:
1> they usually have comp b4 midnight list.

I can agree with everything you said..
Crobar - That blue tunnel that connects the reed room, to the main room i love the design of that thing. Also Those big projection screens they have on the walls are pretty bugged out.. |

I hate crobar bc
1> the sound is terrible
2> nowhere to sit
3> the dj booth sucks
4> the lights are also terrible and way too bright most of the time
5> the crowd most of the time but sumtimes its good
I like crobar bc
1> the bathroom guy is always chill
2> the bartenders are always friendly with me
3> alot of parties are comp b4 midnight :)
4> stays opens late compared to spirit
I love spirit bc
1> the sound is awesome
2> feels more cozy since its smaller/darker
3> you can sit in quite a few places
4> the lights there keep getting better n better
I hate spirit bc
1> the mens bathroom attendant is a dick all the time
2> ever since they started having reggaeton nights. the crowd is very bad most of the time.
3> bouncers dont let you play with photons or sticks |

| to me Spirit encapsulates what a big room should be like. Its big, but not wide open like Crobar. The sound system is top notch, and its nice and dark. There are a million and one places to sit in Spirit unlike Crobar. When I go out I like ot be in a dark club with dark corners and room to explore. I absolutely hate the fact that Crobar is like a concert venue for the most part. There is nowhere to sit whatsoever on, and the positioning of the dj booth makes the Crobar experience like a concert. |

the men's bathroom attendent really is a douche. but there are two other bathrooms you can go to. I have been yelled at quite a few times by the attendent in the main bathroom and basically just ignore him. I love when I go to fill up my water bottle in the sink he flips his . I just give him this look like 'ok there bathroom attendent' and proceed to fill it up anyway. Total douche. |

i think that tunnel's a negative... it creates a bottleneck when people are trying to get in and out.
crobar still needs to mess with their sound system. i hear too much woomp woomp woomp woomp and not much else coming out of there |

Like Crobar -
1. Has guestlists for free before midnight
2. We frequently get bracelets
3. Nicer bartenders
4. It's open, not a cave
5. Light enough to see (BS)
6. Great DJs on weekly basis and monthly residents
7. Guidettes dress like skanks (GHB)
8. Guidos wax their chests (BS) :rolleyes: (GHB)
9. Bartenders give free drinks
10. Parties go later
11. Good decoration and themes, go-go dancers
12. Can smoke in middle of dancefloor
13. Overall better eye candy, both guys and girls
14. More likely to know people (TA & non-TA)
15. More bars
Dislike Crobar -
1. Too bright (GHB)
2. Guido Saturday crowd
3. Crappy lights (how in the hell did they get a lighting award last year?)
4. Sometimes pains in the ass about dress code
5. People are there just because Crobar's "cool," rather than music
6. Special Events are most expensive pre-sales, usually never comped, just $10 reduced
Like Spirit -
1. Good sound
2. Good DJs when they get someone
3. More frequent use of lasers
4. Good DJ nights, crowd knowledgeable of DJs/music
Dislike Spirit
1. Go to different floor to go to bathroom
2. Have had problems with guestlists a few times, never an issue at Crobar. Been outright lied to regarding info.
3. Too many guys
4. Threaten to be kicked out if smoking a few feet inside or door to smoke
5. Now have crappy nights that ruin that bring in ty crowd (reggaeton night, hip-hop)
6. Don't have consistent weekly lineup, only special events
7. Made Events are expensive and no guestlists
8. More crackheads that can't control their than Crobar
9. Some ID guy told BS, "Sneakers are suicide," i.e. "forget getting in" after the rope guy let her in.
10. Ugly design
11. Currently not in business
Barosoap really dislikes Spirit aside from the sound and can't really come up with any positives. Quotes - "If I didn't have to go there, I wouldn't" (to see specific DJs). "As a venue, I actually like Avalon more, at least you look down on the DJ booth away from the idiots and they have close up live PA, also an outdoor smoking courtyard with seating (even for non-smokers to get fresh air), the bartenders are better) |

i done that and he threatens to kick me out and actually called security on me once and i had to like run out and avoid the bathroom all night..was quite an experience to say the least..ing basted..though last time i went there he wasn't there and a really nyce dood was there and actually filled up my bottle for me..im like woahh thx dood heres 5 bux for actually letting me fill it up yet alone fill it up for me cuz im all ed up and sensors were buggin lol. |

Ronski Speed
Richie Hawtin
Seb Fontaine
Steve Lawler
D:Fuse
Satoshie
Desyn and Nic
JVM (as a headliner not opener)
You know keep it totally underground...
It'll give these DJs a chance to expose themselves outside of a mega-club card.
I vote for Zack and JJ to start a new trend with these popular DJs and ask them how they would feel in supporting a totally underground event with a top notch sound system that's only marketed to a specific crowd....
Love would hit the top of the charts so quickly and everyone will die to get in there...MAKE LOVE MONEY BRING DOPE DJS! |
