good points, man, i enjoyed reading your post. just a side note, spirit's main floor is the same exact size as twilo's was and, if you remember, twilo has zero decor...bc that was the philosophy behind it, really. (well, speaking of the main room.. so if you count the bouncy balls you could sit on upstairs in the snow cone room, then yea i guess it did have some accessories/decor overall..) the beauty of twilo was that it was just basically a dark room. no frills, nada. :) |

well i don't know - you are the second person to say to me that the dancefloor at spirit was the same size at twilo but it just didnt' seem that way. i remember twilo being so much more spacious and i don't know how i could make it up?
i remember going to the first roxy gig and thinking "this dancefloor is almost as big as twilo's was"... did i really make this all up!? let's see what other people who remember twilo have to say...
(in terms of the lack of decor... i was all about twilo's raw warehousey feel.... the lighting fixtures and sound setup were all the decor needed :) and that huuuuuge mirror ball ) |

Intersting thread but sicne I live 3 hours south of NY I have yet to even attend Crobar or Spirit so I wish I had moire to say. I been to D.C. countless time so let me add Glow/Fur Vs Buzz @ Nation

- NO DRESSCODE (I seen it all to ravers with teddy bears hanging
onto there ufos to some wearing winnie the poor outfit lol
- So many rooms to explore (3 floors of the same music, the
entrance room has random eletronic music playing (DnB,
Breakbeat, Techno, etc)Second floor has a small room playing
edm playing. The main room is freakin huge, every club should
be this big
- Drinks are cheaper and bigger
- Open bar for an hour
- Sound is so much better
dislikes: - Its closing June 16th :( :whip: 
I can't believe there closing for the baseball stadium I
wonder where they will find a venue huge like Nation 
- They got anti trance/techno in 2003 but it changed in 2004
when Tiesto came in 2004
Glow/FUR
likes: - Trance DJ's
- The light system
dislikes: - Crowd (attend Glow and stand around to be seen)
- People are so drunk they start spilling drinks
everywhere
- The sound sucks
- They Hip-Hop room is annyoing
- Not the Bouncers but the staff are in s Glow
- Venue is too small

Crobar dislikes..
No seating
Crowd has no manners (no excuse me or sry) just shove through elbowing people, not very friendly.
I have never met anyone new there (non TA)
Too bright, dislike lighting
Floor is really hard, hurts my feet after long hours of dancing.
(Prefer wood)
sound makes my ears ring
Dress code
Likes...
Bring in good talent
Strong drinks
fast service at bar
like most of the layout and design/deco
somewhat clean bathrooms
Spirit dislikes.....
Smoking area has no ventilation unless you open the door, and when you do open the door security complains and closes it.
No glowsticks/photons
Security sometimes acts like s (ie flashlights in ur face), but thats pretty much everywhere.
sound makes my ears ring
likes....
Good DJ's
More friendly vibe, even if there are alot of crackheads at least they are friendly crackheads so its fine by me.
Always meet new people, always see a familiar face
seating is always available
darker/like lighting
like decor
like layout
like set up on the dance floor (for certain djs)
more relaxed about dress code
get free drinks when you tip the bartenders |

- no seats
- obnoxious crowd
- always packed to the gills
- feels like a fire hazard
- bad sound
- bad lights
not much to say about Spirit except I like it much better...

+1 The one time I went to Twilo for PVD, i thought it was such a cavernous space...the feel and the vibe was awesome...yeah I dont know why Spirit seems a LOT smaller -- is it due to how dark the club is? I remember Twilo as being a LOT brighter. Or because they put that bar in the back? And the VIP areas? And were those pillars there before, I don't quite remember.
Well, somehow Twilo SEEMED much bigger. |

My $.02 - Pretty much what everyone else said...
Crobar
(pros) - great lineups, free guestlists, stylish decor
(cons) - bouncers on the line (ive seen ppl get pulled out for no reason whatsoever), too much of the bottle/VIP crowd/ppl that are just there to be SEEN, rude crowd, 18+ nights SUCK cuz thats when YOUNG guidos come out (scary how much they look alike!!!), speakers are not consistently tweaked correctly...it'll be great at one show then suck at the next, no place to sit on the main floor
Spirit
(pros) - they do get in great djs from time to time, not a strict dress code most of the time, more space to walk around and sit - i love the 2nd floor, good ventilation, booth is in a great place, everything just seems more laidback there, great sound, only experienced a bad crowd once (at Armin this past January)
(I dunno, Im not really a fan of either space...i miss Roxy cuz I loved the space to dance. Still can't really see how being squashed like sardines makes a party fun. :( right now, wherever i go is dependent on who can bring the DJS. Somehow Spirit NYC got Above and Beyond to come to NYC, so that's really cool. Just too bad they got shut down like that last week - but you know, since they have hosted a lot of 18+ parties in the past, thats probably why undercovers targeted it that night.)
But I have to say, I agree with Shamez and AJ, I AM liking Pacha as far as superclubs go...the dance floor is an ok size, the lighting system is awesome, I def like the dj booth :D and the sound was perfect (no ringing in the ears). I def LOVED the access to all floors through the back stairways. Could def get lost in there :D |
