I can't believe you're arguing over mdma.

i dont know whwere you read this..
3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine has been shown to induce long-term deficits in serotonergic function in animal models. Several studies have suggested that dopamine (DA) uptake into serotonin (5-HT) terminals by the 5-HT reuptake transporter (SERT) and subsequent deamination by monoamine oxidase-B (MAO-B) leads to the formation of hydrogen peroxide and may be major contributors to this serotonergic toxicity. In the present study, when human choriocarcinoma (JAR) cells were exposed to MDMA (1.2mM) for 6h, followed by treatment with DA (0.1mM), hydrogen peroxide production increased over a 24h period, peaking at 420% over baseline and decreasing cell viability by 30%. DA alone increased hydrogen peroxide production 84% over baseline, but did not significantly decrease cell viability. Incubation of MDMA treated cells with the SERT inhibitor, fluoxetine (500nM) or the MAO-B inhibitor, l-deprenyl (0.1mM) for 30min prior to DA, significantly blocked free radical production and cell death. These findings support the hypothesis that the deamination of DA by MAO-B within the serotonergic cell can lead to hydrogen peroxide formation and ultimately cell death. |
thanks for the textbook excerpt.. now actually translate what your saying into something legible instead of just chemical reactions and experimental results.
these bi products are normally formed by the body.. i havent read anything about hydrogen peroxide, but i know that a lack of 5 ht will cause an imbalance of neurotransmitter. Hi oxidase formation due to reuptake (not reuptake blockage from 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine) may cause cell damage to the pre synaptic neuron. (wikipedia) Ultimate cell death?.. all cells must die at some point due to programmed cell death or necrosis. so what we are mainly concerned about would be a chemical imbalance and neuron firing rate (action potential).
i dont see hydrogen peroxide anywhewre
heres the metabolic pathway for the drug:

Dont we have like 5 billion people in the world..and MDMA has been around for hella long aleardy!
Why cant they take a person who OD on MDMA and test them what happen to their brain and stuff!! |
im not sure the ODing part is that important, it's the effects from normal use they are arguing about
just out of curiousity how old are you? |

nevermind i clicked on your profile thing. man you're 17, learn some grammar and some things about the drugs you name yourself after
I honestly thought you might be 11 judging from you posts, in which case I was going to scold you for taking drugs |

it's not a matter of how the drug metabolizes, it's how it allows dopamine neurotransmitters to fit into serotonin reuptake sites where it is deanimated and broken down into hydrogen peroxide, leading to the premature death of the cell. |
