Probability wise, just because the universe is so vast, there has to be other planets with life forms. |
We'd all like to think that due to the fact that people wouldn't be able to cope with the idea that we're all alone.
Of course, we don't know enough about the universe to declare it official that we're the only living entities. But what we do know is pointing towards that right now. |

Hmm i dont know what you've read, but from what ive been taught in biology classes about early life on earth and planet formation basic life forms can arise in a lot of different conditions. Given that in the universe there are millions of galaxies that in turn have themselves hundreds of planets i think theyres a good chance that life exists elsewhere. Maybe you could point us to material that "indicates" or "hints" towards us being alone? I know you linked to that SciScoop thing but there's too much random material there to sort through, surely you have some specific points at least that are highlighted in your mind?
Im not argumenting because im terrified or smth along those lines of us being the only self conscious organisms in the universe, just because from the information ive seen points to a strong posibility that there is life elsewhere. |

The most general source I can give you (considering the fact that the content of my posts had to do with information that I read from articles upon books upon speeches from professionals) that summarizes up what I know is this:
Space
Of course this is also making the assumption that the rocky planets are the only ones to harbor life. |

How long was it in the sky for?
Could be 1 of 2 things:
Iron ore metorite burning up on entry to earths atmosphere (iron burns green)
Or military flare dropped from a plane for night ops |

Military flare in my opinoin. The same thing happened in the states before with 3 lights hanging in the air for up to 20 mins.
If you can describe it better, i'm trying to find a pic as we speak of what a military flare at night looks like. Did the object slowly fall directly to the ground? or did it move strangely? |

Wishful thinking, I'd say.
It seems that our planet was an anomaly or a very, VERY rare occurence of all the right conditions at the right time. The chances of another planet with anything close to life is extremely slim, based on the knowledge we have about our current universe. |
i dunno life seems to adapt to its surroundings. lets say earth is the only planet that has resources such like oxygen and 27F temperature etc. i dont see why there cant be a living creature that can find its energy by using other resources other then oxygen and food.lets say theres a planet with alot of hydrogen why cant life adapt to use that as a resource. I mean laws of physics that apply here dont necessairly apply in other parts of the universe so why do the same laws of life cant apply differently somewhere else as well.
when it comes down to it we know very little abt anything which is why we keep progressing in society, so we can learn more abt our existence and the existence of things around us (unfortunately we tend to side track and worry more abt living and $$ then societies goal thus making new discoveries etc. longer to come about) I mean lets face it our whole meaning in life is derived on one question WHY? thats all we want to know as human beings is WHY?! WHO ARE WE?! WHATS OUR PURPOSE?!?! its a vicious cycle because our purpose is basically to find out our purpose
deep . think abt it |
