confederacy > federal republic
the confederate flag represented state rights above anything else. slavery was made an issue to attract slaves to fight for the union and afterwards as a punishment to the south since slavery was the backbone of their economy. later the flag was used to represent racism by ignorant southerners because of the wedge issue of slavery that surrounded the conflict.
still the flag means in the political sense: state rights, which is something i'm all for. this country is too big and diverse to make federal laws that work for both california and alabama, texas and new york, florida and utah. plus this federal government has gotten ridiculously out of hand. our founding fathers would be rolling over in their graves right now if they saw how obese our government has become... |
