I was on my way home last night at about 10 o'clock and was sitting at the lights on Broadview and Danforth. Not a drop to drink, wasn't speeding, totally minding my own business.
Some cop pulls up beside me and motions me to pull over after the light turns green. I rolled down my window and asked if something was wrong and he says "Umm, yeah... your front light is out." Give me a ing break.
So he pulls me over, tells me my front passenger side light is out. "Oops, I'll have to get that fixed," I tell him. After showing him my license and registration he begins drilling me with questions like, is this my current address, when did I move here, etc. I told him that I moved a couple of months ago and respectfully asked him if there was a reason why he was asking me.
"Of coarse there is," he says in an arrogant tone. "You need to get your license changed when you move." (which I didn't know was really necessary.
He goes back to his car, takes 20 minutes, another cop car pulled over and he shot the with them for a bit, saw him staring out the window as well. He comes back and hands me 2 tickets totalling $220... one for my light and one for my license. He says I can take them to court and if I have a receipt for a new light and a new licence they'll get thrown out. I looked at the guy and laughed in his face because of how pathetic he is. Then said, "Are we done here?" and took off.
Lesson learned people. Make sure you have every I dotted and t crossed because in spite of all the crime here, cops in this city have nothing better to do with their time than pull people over for a burnt out headlight. |
Toronto pigs are just as dumb as NYC pigs. Butcher anyone ? |

| i'm sure they have a quota of how many tickets they have to issue a month, so they issue them knowing that if you go to court you wont have to pay them... |

So because you don't get a ticket for it means you have a free pass from that law for life? |
No. It means that if it's illegal then I should be told about it and given a warning so I at least know it's illegal.
Besides, are you seriously going to play the peity game and try to convince anyone you wouldn't be pissed if some cop pulled you over for a light and slapped you with $220 worth of tickets when they likely let at least one pouty lipped low-cut-top blonde off the hook once a week with the same thing? |

I'm surprised they didn't like Dennis's pouty lip routine in the first place. It makes most people swoon. |

| Got a ticket on a similar little technicality, with the same advice given to me. Why even bother giving the tickets in the first place. Nope, no quotas here... |

| Technically, they can't give you a ticket for burnt out lights, "Because they were working fine when I left officer"... ;) |

that is exactly the case ... they have a quota to fill ... so they can give you $1000 worth of tickets and then just not show up in the court |

That only works (very rarely might I add) on girls :)
I don't even try it on guys... some things aren't worth getting out of a ticket for! :stongue: |

that sucks.
When you do go to court it will most likely get thrown but the most annoying part of it all is the hassel taht you will have to go thru now |
