But please prove me wrong, cuz i'm eager for you to prove that all trance thats listed in djdownload, beatport, audiojelly, 3beatdigital etc is infact original and doesnt use the same damn formulas cuz unless me ears are damaged (and i think they might be if i continue listeing to these samples) there is absolutely nothing interesting with them.

Trolled. :)

Edit: Sorry, only 5 minuts till I'm outta here. Had to get someone before I go. ;)

Can I ask you how? Im genuinly interested, cuz for me (and many others) I use to love trance, but then I realized that stuff that came/come out lack creativity, originality and just use the same formulas and synths. Now I've stopped following the trance scene, but from what Ive read and hard it only gotten wrose. So how do you keep yourself intrested in something that seems to lack evolution? If you could list some new tracks that keep you grooving these days...

simply put, not everyone craves originality & creativity in music.

it's like, i dunno... sex (i'm struggling to think of a good analogy so this one will have to do, hehe). loads of people do it all throughout their lives and the technique doesn't change a great deal, besides experimenting with different positions every now & again. the point is, it's fun & feels good, and doesn't need to be done originally or creatively to be enjoyed ;)

and re: the trance 'scene'... it depends how you really define scene, but providing it still exists i don't really concern myself with how strong it is as a whole. true, the a-list DJs may not be as good as they used to be & many of the 'big' tunes are weaker than the ones of yesteryear. but then, there are still good tracks (even if many of them go relatively unnnoticed) and decent clubnights (here anyway).

as for recent/ish tracks i like:

simon patterson - f16
evasive - rae of sun (f&sa remix)
beam - on your mind (syan tyas mix)
riley & durrant - neon eyes
airbase - pandemonium [not sure if this is new but only recently found it]
gareth emery & jon o'bir - no way back
selu vibra - stargazing

none (well, bar f16) are particularly creative or original... so why do i like them? imo they sound full, energetic & tough, with a great flowing drive to them, they have strong tension-building breakdowns, intense buildups and powerful climaxes. in short, they do what i like club music to do best... be it creative or not.

i don't limit myself tho, i've been liking quite a bit of techno recently (mainly the preach/walder style) and prog/psy crossovers. i wouldn't call them particularly creative or original either, just i think the formula isn't so blatent as with epic trance.

On the other side I like house music alot too, but thats only when I want to chill out and ofcours in night clubs...gets you in good mood really :-).
p.s STOP listening to EVERY weekly radio show.

just my 2 pence... only got 1 pence. oh well :)

first of all, i started listenin to trance with pvd's album "seven ways" back in '98...so i consider myself somewhat of a longtime fan of the genre (and its changed a lot since then):p

the whole swedish house mafia are pretty sick :eyes: , not just angello & ingrosso

and ur probably right about listenin to all the radio sets, but i just cant get enough to be honest...:haha: i usually make sure the T/L isnt too similar from week to week tho :D

Its called branching out musically. Only swamper has completely stuck to trance imo. I listen to trance, house and everything in between. I enjoy learning and hearing new things.

i think a good share of people didn't expand their music tastes from trance to trance plus other things, but rather abandoned trance to move for other things. i'm kinda in that group.

generally when i read your posts the only thought going through my head is, my god you're ing stupid. Now whilst that was still the case with this post uve atleast made a very valid point. The reason people get tired of trance and complain DJs play the same old , especially on the internet is the fact they listen day in and day out to djs radio shows and livesets. If they stopped doing that and only listened to it generally when they go out to clubs which is more the case with house, psy, breaks, dnb and any other genre you'd care to list, then u wouldnt get bored of the tracks. It's an inherant problem with trance down to the fact that fans of trance for one reason or another are generally pretty tech savvy and know they can access these things via the internet, which in part leads to its downfall in certain aspects.

Over the years, my appreciation for trance has done nothing but go up as I discover new material almost on a weekly basis. I've had a house phase at some point last fall, and I grew bored of it - ironically for the same reasons people here diss trance; I found it unoriginal, uninspired and always following the same formulas. I've sort of 'branched out' into psy and melodic/atmospheric prog-house, but I don't really see that as a change of tastes as much as just discovering things I didn't know existed before.

Yeah actually, the stuff j00f plays is very commercial in terms of psy releases. Its basically remixes from the same top 10 generic full-on artists for the most part. :nervous: Not that theres anything wrong with that if thats your thing, but you should bare it in mind when you call others n00bs for liking other forms of trance... theres nothing terribly deep or underground about j00f... :D

well j00f kinda bridges trance & psy... in psy terms he may not be deep but in trance terms i'd say he was (thinking more about the non-psy stuff here)

I have concluded old skool house is where it's at! Check Sneaker Pimps, Inner City, old Armand Van Helden... and my fave house track of all time... Yeke Yeke!!

Tribal house is the worst thing ever, prog-house is quite beautiful, tech house rocks.

That awful pop-vocal stuff will signal the death of house as reigning king of dance just like pop-trance killed off trance as king.
