For s sake people, you all like music with repeatative beats, be it house trance techno wahtever, stop pigeon holing everything. If you like tunes that are more housey, ie based more around a groove, dont stop and think "OH MY ING GOD I LIKE HOUSE!!!1111 THIS CANT BE! I LIKE TRANCE, MY TASTES MUST HAVE TOTALLY CHANGED" just enjoy it.

I can guarantee you the moment you stop worrying about what genre of dance music you're listening to and just start enjoying it, if you like it, you'll have a much better time.

Yeah I agree with you there. Most of the stuff on his label is proper trance, I definately have a lot more respect for him as a trance producer than as a psy dj.

generally when i read your posts the only thought going through my head is, my god you're ing stupid. Now whilst that was still the case with this post uve atleast made a very valid point. The reason people get tired of trance and complain DJs play the same old , especially on the internet is the fact they listen day in and day out to djs radio shows and livesets. If they stopped doing that and only listened to it generally when they go out to clubs which is more the case with house, psy, breaks, dnb and any other genre you'd care to list, then u wouldnt get bored of the tracks. It's an inherant problem with trance down to the fact that fans of trance for one reason or another are generally pretty tech savvy and know they can access these things via the internet, which in part leads to its downfall in certain aspects.

I agreed, saturation isnt good for any music.

People grow up, and I guess their taste of music grows up with them. As you get older, you start discovering more and more types of music, and at one point something will pop up that you will end up enjoying next to (or instead of) trance or whatever.

I always try to listen to as much different types of music as I possibly can. I listen to dance-classics, house, techno, trance, hardstyle, jumpstyle, pop/rock, breakbeats, dancehall, hip-hop/r&b, and even jazz and soul. I still prefer funky/groovy house and techno, but I don't listen to it all day.

I've learned to enjoy all types of music, and I can say it has really influenced my musical preferences and taste. Listening to soul and jazz for example made me appreciate the deeper/more soulfull vocal house-tracks, and has made me discover a lot of 'hidden secrets' in the music industry.

Listening to (and playing) more types of music has even made me a better DJ.

Obviously you don't know me at all as I've been a lover of trance/house/techno (in that order) since before this site existed.

Genre whoring is lame - there is more to EDM than Trance and we should all be happy this scene offers something for everyone. This whole 'progression' business implies that you're leaving one genre behind for something else (better) - which is a load of crap IMO.

It's natural for tastes to differ over time - but - some of the drastic comments made by those who were avid trance heads and only recently discovered other sub-genres makes me laugh.

I find it strange that anyone can isolate themselves so much to one sound that a switch to another genre inspires a thread like this.

EDIT: Which turns out to be almost exactly what Swamper just said. Heh.

i joined this site since i find trance to be a nice modification of what i generally listen to. (old disco and house)

I find it intresting to see that most house today is incarnations of old songs and most trance is generated looped structured version of old eurodance, and 80s disco.

I find trance nicer then house however, more mind stimulating. House on the other hand is groovier like alot of old disco from the 70s
