they dont seem ridiculous to me at all. everyone knows abelton has issues with it. when PvD starting playing with final scratch and brought abelton into it a while ago everyone got pissed callim him " robot dj " and everything else in the book then with time abelton took over and everyone jumped the bandwagon so now if a dj doesnt like abelton he is whacked ?? i dont agree with that.
nor do i agree with the understanding everyone is taking about the statement he made for his mixing. i am pretty sure he was trying to say that his mixing more or less is for ppl who actually dont know much about the music and r new to the scene and what not because for ppl like yourself and others who have enjoyed countless orgasmic sets live and are familiar with tunes and what not can tell whats going on. ppl on music forum need to realize that all the music being played by any dj is not just for them and cant possibly be perfect 100% to their expectations. its just doesnt happen. in no way shape or form am i saying that tiesto is a god like dj and he shud hnoured as one he has his faults like anyone else and yes alot of times his acts are not up to the hype he has built but give the guy a break. he has done alot for our scene and is still doing it from time to time. |

Tiesto doesnt play house sets or produce house tunes. |

^^^^ Incorrect.
How has his mixing changed from before 2002? This has absoluely NOTHING to do with mixing. Absolutely nothing.
Have you not heard any of his old sets? Its the same . It is not bad mixing it is just very abrupt and sometimes it clashes.
He was doing that back in his first recorded set on air Dance department November 1998. I can easily give you some examples.
Sometimes it sounds absolutely massive live. That is just his style, that has always been his style. Like he said himself for 97% of the crowd it works like a dime.
The only thing that his changed is that fact that there is no more pulsar - cloudwalking or gouryella type productions to be played. He does not have that sound anymore because that sound does not exist anymore. Unless you want to be paul oakenfold and keep playing trance from 99 in every set.
One thing i find really funny is that When everyone loved him on here pre 2002 no one even mentioned this big mixing thing with him. All of a sudden he gets #1, starts going mainstream popular and starts losing his "magik" sound then boom he sucks dick at mixing.
I am a not a clueless tiesto whore by any means. But he gets way too much slack on here with people who actually have no clue. A lot of people just jump on to whats cool or whats not. Now someone who has followed his career for a long time with some sound statements about his recent direction i might agree with.
What really bothers me is 1) the new fans who just go for tiesto and have no clue. So yeah a majority of the crowd at his shows these days
2) the fans who started liking him around the #1 ranking and then hated him because it was the cool thing to do. I guess that is all a part of the popularity though. He kind of screwed himself in that way.
Props to the interview. It is one of the first interviews i have heard they actually kept me going throughout.
I would still see him live. Everyone said he owned every other trance night at miami wmc.
mindspin: Is that the best you can say? |

ISOS 5 LA is mixed brilliantly. i enjoy it very much. |

I just don't agree with some of the comments he has made.
ISOS 5 was a brilliant CD, there's no doubts about that...but I wish people would stop referring to this man as some sort of God, there are DJs out there that are better than him, and have been around just as long, working just as hard..... |

yes, but you said tijs has no mixing skills
well
if i were you, i'd listen to his 99-03 sets (mostly 2001) if you haven't already =D
i don't blame him for putting less effort or experimenting different styles at the moment ... he's rich and he deserves it |

Yeah I'm talking about the present....now....
That is no excuse for putting less effort into it, Paul Van Dyk has been doing it for 14 years (or more?) and is even better now!
Paul Oakenfold, again someone who has been doing it for years and experienced being at the "top" put on a great show Thursday.
I've listened to Tiesto sets from the past to the present...and I have yet to hear a present set that didn't put me to sleep. I'm not hating Tiesto because it's the "cool" thing to do, I dislike Tiesto because he just doesn't impress me, got it? |

peoples opinions are different
in my opinion, Armin + PVD + tijs are tooo boring these days
In my opinion, Trance today is no longer impressing me
Where are the:
Suburban Trains
Flight 643s
Southern Suns
La Rock 01s
Voyages
Fancy Fairs
Sunrise At Palamos s
Etc etc etc etc ...
styles change/opinions change
I wish trance stayed the way it was back then
+
PVD / Armin are still not as famous as tijs ... so its not "cool" to hate them still
well said dartrance |
