yea but Tiesto was saying that he mixes all crazy like SO people can tell.

Also...with that Carney said, I agree...the old Magiks I thought were great. People have always said Tiesto's not a great mixer. I don't think he's amazing...but I think he's pretty good. Sure he has some slips ups now and then but I guess it happens to the best of 'em right? Maybe not to the super talented mixers...but I wouldn't say mixing is his strongest talent.

styles change/opinions change
I wish trance stayed the way it was back then

if it stayed as it was back then .... it wud be boring. hearing same style of tunes as you mentioned above wud get annoying. ppl have stopped listening to trance just because of that reason. change in trance has done trance alot of good and to be honest with you sir as big as them tunes u mentioned are there are some tunes these days that will make you go " h0ly crap "
heres a example of few ....

hydroid pres. phyn - shattered skies
zehavi and rand vs hydroid - carpe diem
stoneface and terminal - venus
simon patterson - f-16
peter dafnous - sweet deception
sandra flynn - rocking
icone pres. blue manta - i feel lost
brisky and colemn - heavens tears

all of them tunes are dance floor stompers and yup they are the future flight 643 and southern sun and for an angel.

Tiesto doesnt play house sets or produce house tunes.

and at which point did you automatically assume that i only listen to house? there are more djs than i count on my fingers and toes who's technical skills and creativity put tiestos to shame.

and for the record...i listen to a heck of alot more than house.

T: Yeah, I see myself as a risky mixer because I think if you mix very clean, that's great for like 3% of the audience, but the other 97% who don't have a clue about mixing tracks, they want to hear the mix. So, I like them to hear the mix, so they know there's a new track coming in.

That's awesome!

Tiesto should be a politician.

oh of course... what i meant was IN MY opinion, lately there hasn't been productions as good as the oldies .. the classics ...
or it could be that i've migrated into the more techi style or that more time is needed to lable a song "Classic"

VERY WELL SAID DARTRANCE

Im listening to "story of the fall". Tiesto never got worse, his sound just got different, it evolved. That also means that the people that listened to his old stuff arent necessary going to like his new stuff, its obvious that hes going to loose some of his fan base. If he truly considers himself an artist then he has the right to express himself anyway he pleases. Theres no way that you could compare the stuff that hes presently spinning to the stuff he was spinning in the beginning of this decade, its different things, especially with the introductions of the housey sounds in ISOS5.

For me ISOS's are getting better with every single one. I still havent had enough time to full familiarize myself with ISOS5 (play it 20 or 30 times :)) but ISOS4 was amazing.

PVD / Armin are still not as famous as tijs ... so its not "cool" to hate them still

Not all of us were fortunate enough to experience those "good old days" so we make do with what we have now.

PVD is ten times better now than he was 6 years ago. How do I know this being only 19? Well I've met countless people that have seen him 6,7,8 years ago and seen him now and notice a huge improvement.

Like I said, I don't dislike him because it's "cool", I dislike him because I just don't like him. You can't deny how awesome ISOS 5 is though :D

the breakdown in this one just destroys me every time i listen to it!!!

oh and about tijs. i've realized one thing. i dont' want to waste my time writing about this debate anymore.

to put it into a few words: everyone's opinion is different. your opinion will not be agreed with everyone. if you dislike tiesto b/c of internal reason, that's ok, everyone has an opinion on music. but if you dislike tiesto b/c of extrenal reasons, and the fact that deep down inside you listen to his music and go to his events, then you just haven't grown up in this world yet. just respect what he has done b/c we all wish we could have done the same thing.

i love music :D

that's right. b/c it's like comparing apples and oranges. i guess it's hard to understand for some ppl.

How many of you have really read the interview - and have tried to understand what Tiesto is talking about?

He does make some interesting comments and don't take the quotes too literal. If he says he makes mistakes, it doesn't mean he screws up during his live sets. He chooses a certain style for his own reasons - and risks that it is not up to his expectations. Risk taking is what any artist does and should do - and it means you're sometimes brilliant and inspiring, and sometimes you fail to impress. If it is a personal and creative choice - then the question is not 'is it good or bad, right or wrong mixing' but: does it work. And it obviously does, considering the fact that many people (myself included, and I am hardly a n00b in this field) enjoy his sets.

Try to really really read what the interview is all about and add some in depth comments and support it with some solid arguments - so far it's been mostly boring cliches that were posted in this thread.

Btw I was one of the interviewers ;)
BTG
