I want to buy a new laptop. I am a windows user but I have heard a lot about macs and I wun mind making that change if I can get all windows features on it with a different interface - Macs are pretty.

But not many are able to tell me whether I should make the shift or not. Suggestions??

if you're not going to be playing games do the change.

You dont have to do the switch anymore, you can have the best of both worlds now that apple supports installing windows :)

Yea, I am considering this but then there is no idea how stable Boot Camp is going to be. If this is a good software - then it makes my decision a lot easier.

P.S. I hate the 1 button click on Macs. Mouse needs and deserves 2 buttons :o

I have one of the new macbook pros that can support BootCamp, and it has been 100% stable for me. Some others have had different luck. I'm sure YMMV.

I did notice that i do need an external mouse to use windows effectively - also, the macbook pro's keyboard is rather different from the standard windows one, so for using things such as the windows button, its mapped to the left command button. you'll probably want to get an external keyboard if you want to use windows with those types of keys.

Other than those two things, BootCamp has been great! I find I only need windows for one or two things anyway (but then i've been on OS X since around 2002).

Good luck with your laptop choice, be it Macintosh or otherwise!

When using Boot Camp, it actually makes Windows load 100% natively so when Windows is loaded it works 100% like you were on a PC. It does not deal with anything MacOS.

Apple is able to do this easily because of their change to Intel CPUs....which basically makes Macs have the same architecture as PCs. The only real differences are the PCI port types (PCI-X vs. PCIe)....but that's more of just companies releasing drivers for cards designed for the PCI-X to work with Windows, too.

The reason why people want to boot XP on a Mac is simple. To play there PC games.

Can I use like one mouse for both the OS's? Like use 2 buttons when I'm on windows and just one when using mac? Is it true that we have to like restart the comp to shift to a different OS, that would suck - Id hate to keep restarting just in case I want to make a constant shift.

I am not too much of a gamer anymore - done with those years. I am particularly interested in Boot camp as it can give me the potential of both worlds.
