OH MY GOD!
Nothing stopped this night from being one of the best nights at Avalon for me, prolly ever! Or close to ever!
The lines were short!
The drinks were decent.
Mark Tabbner didn;t make everybodies ears bleed, he was actually DJing at the main booth. No flying tomato's needed. :whew:
I stopped by the Spundizzle to see a friend open up the backroom and then I booked it on over to Avalon at like 10:45. Bam straight in!
Sasha wowowowowow I am still in shock, thanks mate for a fantastic night, |

It was a really good night, Sasha was a little all over the place, seem to have trouble finding a groove. Lee killed it despite skipping records again. Double encore was HUGE.

Mark Tabbner sucked, as usual, playing his cheesy hip hop songs and other mainstream garbage. I hope he quits djing soon. Sasha was good though, from the hour I saw of him. He played a few "WTF" songs.
Honestly, i was looking more forward to seeing lee burridge than sasha, but i left just as Lee was coming on. I lost my voice, and my cold turned for the worst.
***Note to self:
a) don't go out when u have a cold.
b) stop wearing heels to clubs when u want to dance for 5+ hours. |

First of all I wanna say thanks x100000 to Drew for getting me on stage last night, you don't even know how sick it was!
Sasha opened up nicely, and started building it up slowly. I was watching him use ableton and there were a good few times in his set where he had three or four tracks going at the same time, like with one fader all the way up, two halfway, and one real low, all EQ'd differently. Couldnt tell what the was what trackwise but thats expected.
Like I said earlier Sasha's set flow was a little weird. Its not like it was bad, every mix was pretty unique and interesting, but the programming was sometimes a bit odd. Seemed like he would start going somewhere, and then change his mind, which sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.
When Lee got on, the ball dropped. He in owned it. His vinyl's were skipping a la Danny Howells (only other guy I've seen use vinyl at Avalon recently) so it was ing up his flow, and he baisically told me that later. I told him I thought he was SICK and he said he played like . lol. Gave him props for spinning wax though...it sounds great through that Xone 92.
When Sasha got back on he kinda slowed everything down with a few tracks, but then he played 16 Bit Lolitas - Destiny and avalon blew up again. After this he proceeded to play some REALLY sick breaks, dark edgy stuff, and then with Nathan Fake - Outhouse (James Holden Remix) they began their tag-team h4xage. The tag team was great...some of the mixes they were doing were just nuts. I don't think I've ever seen two guys throw down on one mixer, working together like that. Sasha would loop stuff, Lee would, Lee would run his CDJ in a reverse loop and make all these crazy sounds during one of Sasha's build ups, Sasha would echo the previous track back into Lee's during breakdowns. It was pretty insane to watch. Not to mention the beatmatching was rock solid.
Mark Tabberner played WAYYYYYY too hard to start the night off. Some of the tracks were better than his usual stuff, but it was another dog opening set. Just really sucks for Fundacion to get going with this guy at the helm. Hes a nice guy though so I'll give him that. He played Susan Vega - Tom's Diner mashed with 50 Cent - In Da Club. Whoever made that mashup needs to be shot. Tom's Diner over 50 Cent...ffs. Way to ruin a great song.
Sasha's 1st encore was that M83 track from his essential mix. Sick.
And then the second, was Justice vs Simian - Never Be Alone (Original Mix)
Best...encore...in awhile!
"Cause WE! ARE! YOUR FRIENDS! YOU'LL! NEVER BE ALONE AGAIN! COME ON!"
...will be stuck in my head for the next few days.

Last night was sick!! I met a bunch of TA's on the dancefloor front and center. One of um' was taking pics of everybody I would love to see those pics! It was PACKED too there really wasnt any room to reallly do anything but hey goodtimes. The first guy played some straight CHEESEWHEESE! I thought we were at club kiss or something lol. Sasha was Sasha. Lee was the real beat dropper of the evening... had everybody dancin real hard. Gotta love the 50 something rolling Asians i got headbutted by one of um doing there woop spin body slam thing that they always do! Good solid crowd just wished they picked a better opener. . .:happy2: |

anyone else see sasha saying 'you're ed, i win' at the end of the night...lol
I don't have the brain power for a good review right now, so I'll just say Sasha was good as usual, but Lee just blew it the up. We've seen him 4 times in the last month here and Denver and each time has been great, but last night was just another level... |
