the same thing happened to me when i tried playing SFAlpha 3. i have a 2.01, and it requires 2.5
like i said, you can still play homebrew via GTA and eloader .97. just install eloader for 2.5 or whatever firmware version you got, and then use GTA to load it up.
Oh i see. i forgot you can still use homebrew with 2.0.
download eloader .97 i think you can find it here http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/
install the version for firmware 2.5. it's an app so it takes you step by step through the process.
stick GTA LCS in and load it up. if you did it right it'll load up eloader, and you'll be able to play homebrew. make sure you don't have any other GTALCS savegame on your memory stick though.

There are PSP downgraders on the net. fairly easy to use. Play new games with the ability for homebrew.
I heard Sony was going to put a new update that allowed EXEs to run. Thus eliminating any need for homebrew as you could just run the emulator straight off your memory stick.
and yan, what exactly are your top 5 RPGs? I can't believe i've never heard of this epic Profile game. My top 3 are Final Fantasy 7, Xenogears and Vagrant Story. I keep Final Fantasy 7 in mint condition like a '67 mustang. I bought Xeno and VS used for $40 each. well worth it |

psp downgraders don't work with 2.01^ firmware. vagrant story is hella underrated.
