| i had it back in '96 but lucked out 'cause it was a very light case of it; i remember it being more annoying than debilitating. |

yea i've had it too, not that big of a deal
only recommendation is if you are in it full phase meaning the aches and pains and lethargicness, i suggest you drink alot of water and tea, usually helps it by. |

i had that in 9th grade. it sucked! i was so weak, i could barely walk from my bed to the bathroom to piss. it was horrible:( i missed like 3 weeks of school.
sorry to hear that. don't give it to MYRA! it's called "the kissing disease" for a reason. |

It isn't. Surely you have learned by now not to get your medical advice from TA!!
Mono is most commonly caused by either Epstein-Barr Virus or Cytomegalovirus. Glandular fever is another term for it. Transmitted by saliva, so most commonly by kissing, sharing bottles/food etc or sometimes by sneezing/coughing. Once you have had it once, you will not get it again FROM THE SAME VIRUS. You can still get another virus that may result in a similar syndrome.
Herpes is caused by the Herpes Simplex virus and does not cause an illness that has anything in common with mono.
Antibiotics and antivirals have no place in treatment, sorry. Take Paracetamol (Tylenol) four times a day to help with fever and aches and pains. Nurofen (Ibuprofen) is also useful.
There you go . . . . an official TA medical opinion. I'm even properly qualified to give it too. :D

i had it about 20 years ago. to much partying/working without getting any sleep. I first came down with strep, and they tested me for mono.
i slept constantly for about a week straight. then started to get my energy back for over another 2 weeks. I was back to work in a month. sometimes, mono hits alot harder than that though.
hopefully, yours is not as severe. good luck at school. |
