Tiesto @ Crobar Review Friday night 05/05/06

Its about 6:45 a.m. saturday morning and I just got back from Crobar. I got to Crobar at 10:30 and the line almost stretched to the end of the block. All I gotta say is DAMN I've never been in such a packed club in my life. I had to pay off a bouncer $30 to let me, this girl I was with, my sis and her bf go upstairs. Even up there the crowd congestion was ridiculous. The main dance floor looked like a tightly packed can of sardines from up there. Crobar and Tijs def took home some nice $$$$$$$$ tonight. Serge Devant laid down a sick opening set. When he dropped the Filo & Peri remix of Jes's Ghost, In Your Loving Arms from ISOS 5, and the Tiesto remix of Delerium's Silence the place went nuts. As for Tijs, I liked his set tonight. Heard many tracks from ISOS 5 which were nice to hear live at an actual club. There were alotta hot girls on the 2nd floor. Sucks for anyone who was stuck with the sardines on the main floor. Highlight of the night was when Tiesto dropped Lethal Industry. The entire club erupted. Left around 5 a.m. My crew and I were way too tired.

My review:
Green #55 was relentless. Even bouncers danced..place was super packed first few hours.. Then it was comfortable.. At least AC was on most of the nite..
Good meeting Misha, Blake and many other new people..
PM me the pix... all of you who took them (at least 3 people).
Oh Big Mike, I was trying to say hi to you for like an hour, u were 5 feet from me, but on Serge Depant side, gave up, then like a minute later, u were next to me on mortals side..
lol..
sleep time..

Tiesto didnt play his remix of Silence...

But he did play my request again! Restricted Motion

it was my first time seein tiesto...so here's my .02

line was long as hell but once they opened up it was pretty smooth goin in.

hai lee threw down a pretty bangin openin set, really got the crowd energized...first time ive seen glowsticks get broken out at like 10pm :haha: oh yea, transatlantic and physical overdrive sounded awesome in the club btw, bigups on droppin those lol

caught the end half of serge's set which was pretty solid...loved hearin "in your loving arms" in a club, and i didnt really expect him to throw down "silence" but the crowd was lovin it..fair amount of guidos and hottis moping about chanting "ti-es-to" and the room was definitely packed til about 330-4am when it thinned out enough for ppl to space out and dance more..as for tiesto

hes a performer pure and simple, like any pop star really..but i didnt really mind much...he was real energetic, dancin a lot, talkin with the ppl on stage around him and periodically signing stuff for fans...he seemed to be enjoyin it as much as the crowd...as for his set, it was pretty good, and the mixing didnt seem as awful as ppl have claimed...got to hear lethal industry for the first time in a club  and ronski speed - incognition :eyespop:...and the last hour was real hard, couldnt ID any tracks but the crowd was in a frenzy the last hour or so

overall a good night, didnt regret the 40 bucks i spent :p

was good seein stanvoid and enigmaT again, as well as one more TA i just cant remember ever..stoner memory..

id say the night was amazing. one of the last tracks...some SICK beat. place erupted. got loud. don tknow the name but off the hook.

Here' my short review; not sure if i'll have a longer one. Basically this set was better than the 18+ set. It also seemed like the crowd had more energy - maybe it was the music. Usually the younger crowd shows more enthusiasm. Maybe that's the way it is in NYC. Words to describe the set would be magikal, epic, took you on a journey, etc. - all the words used before. His set had a good flow. As others have said "Tiesto is back." He was very focused into the set and certainly seemed to enjoy it and the crowd. Althought the Miami WMC party was one of the best of WMC, I'd say this was a better set. On a side note, my wife noticed one of the Victoria Secret Models on stage and she was into the music which is cool.
I was enjoying the set so much that it felt like my endorphins were gushing at one point and I was completely sober - no enhancing substances of any kind icluding, not even one drink.
Anybody know the track he played at 4:10 AM ? I've never heard it and the few people that I asked didn't know either.
Not much on tracklistings, but as has already been said, not surprisingly, lots of tracks from Sunrise 5, but I like they way they way they flowed better and even the mixing seemed better. My wife and a new friend were thrilled to hear "Empty Streets."
Well, that's it for now, I should be coming down from this natural high.
Oh - Serge Devant did have a good opening set, and seemed to be getting off to a good start closing, but unfortunatley we had to leave. Since I'm not from NYC, I would have liked to hear what he could do for a closing set.

I think it was the overpacked conditions causing me to not be able to move, but I just coudln't get into it yesterday. Also wasn't really feeling the music... everything was sounding the same... driving beat... some crap synthesized melody w/ a female vocal over it... ugh.

Hai lee tore it up in the reed room tho... props!

yeh, i didn't hear tiesto or serge drop silence... that was actually me dropping it in right before midnight... had fun spinning in the reed room though..

overall... tiesto's set bored me until around 3:30-4, but by then i was too tired... from then on it was pretty banging which was nice.

it was way too packed though. i was getting pushed around by too many guidos... and sweating my balls off..
