Is Psy really the future?

Ive been hanging on to dear old standard trance for so long now hoping that something will change. But its not just happening.
But now ive realised ther is no need for hoping for a change - its already there :)
Over the last few months ive been developing a very healthy liking for psy and that psy-gressive stuff.
j00f and Lawrence and Bennison to a degree play some of this stuff - and they tend to be trend setters. So yeah - will this whole psy thing bring a whole new wave of trance goodness?
Is it the future - can anyone see this as becoming more regular party music? - its pretty farkin kewl by definition so i cant see why not...
(and everyone keeps saying it is the future lol)

Psy has been around for a long time...
So has epic, melodic, hard melodic, and stadium trance -- just longer.
Evolution, IMO, is in the ears of the beholder.
I do agree that psy wanders around alot more, but saying that psy is the future is kinda like saying that software synthesis is the future when it's already well known and abroad... |

someone is a conan obrien fan lol.
i understand that psy has been around for a long time - but there was a time when psy was recognized as trance. oakenfold back in the early mid 90's for example...
im just wondering if history will repeat itself i guess |

psy and goa are okay to me in small doses... i mean it's probably a matter of personal opinion, so people could disagree with me... but i don't think i could handle 2-4 hours of straight psytrance. even the older Oakie mixes usually dabbled with some epic/ambient/non-psy trance to spruce up the variety. but yeah... if you had to ask me, i don't think psy is where the future is headed... more like electro/trance by the looks of it (a la Ferry). if psy DID turn out to be the next big thing though... i wouldn't be disappointed :)
chooon -> Dino Psaras - "80's Virus" :crazy: |

Psy is still recognized as trance, except by people who aren't familiar with psy or people who aren't very open-minded (or people who don't like it..). Many people tend to think that the trance music that's being played by PvD Armin Tiesto Menno de Jong..-insert any other well known DJ-.. is the only music that should be called 'trance'.
Go ask some big psy/goa heads how they would describe this type of trance music and they'll probably tell you it's "euro trance" or euro club trance or whatever.. just one part of the trance spectrum. |

It was the future 20 years ago when the first goa parties kicked off. You just wern't paying attention then.
Stop looking for answers, let go of the commercial and their poser DJ's and join the real trance movement that is happening just under the surface across the entire globe. Waiting for psy to become commercial enough to 'be the next big thing' is completely missing the point. |

If by 'psy is the future' you mean it will become popular, then um, no, cos I have been to a couple of psy nights in my time and the music is very much an acquired taste.
But I do stand by this track:
Psychedelic Cowboy - The Mel(somethings?!) |

I live in a city where psy IS the biggest genre of EDM. It isn't club music though.. I've been to psy parties on the beach, forest, warehouses, backyards, clubs etc.. and it's always better outside...
Bombay = PSY
I can't even list all the top quality psy acts I've seen since being here. Psy is great fun. |
