No...although it's nice mixed in with traditional trance tracks like Simon Patterson - F16.

The debate which asks "what's the difference between goa and psy" stems from people who don't get it. Morning and Dark dude... That's how you define different types of trance. It's all by the time of day it plays which in my opinion is genius.

thats what I like the most with psytrance. there is a melodic morning stuff for early sets and the dark savage type for the late nights.
in epic trance there is more or less only epic =)

Yeah really, because as was mentioned, it's made for 2, 3 4 day long parties.

I'm hoping to check out the Boom festival if i can make the jump from spain to portugal.

yeah alot of psy parties are like 3-4 days. i doubt people would stand epic trance for so long. its much less variety

I don't think I could stand anything for 3-4 days unless I was on something nasty. ;)

No !! Allied Nations you are so fortunate to live in a place where psy is as big as it is. I so wish I lived where you live! Here where I live, the events are few and far between and it sucks ass. I have to wait months in between events and sometimes longer. I'll be seeing Eskimo in July so I'm really looking forward to that.

Not really, this statement is not true if you've seen or heard Armin, Corsten, Tiesto, PvD, Oakenfold, Gareth Emery, Markus Schulz or any of those guys, esp Armin, Corsten and Tiesto. They have a tendencey to play progressive stuff early on, more melodic progressive or some really deep rhythmic stuff, and then later on build the sets up to play epic stuff mixed in with tech stuff or even electro.

True they used to play A LOT of epic stuff, but if you hear their sets from the past few years, they don't just play epic anthem after epic anthem, there's more variety then you think, on the other hand, some of the psy stuff i've heard, it's pretty much psy, whether it's more melodic morning stuff or the full on stuff, to someone whose been into the progressive and epic sides of trance over the years, I would say there's more variety in what the non-psy DJs play, in terms of sounds and styles, because you don't just have psy...one style, with maybe some variations on the sound, rather you have progressive, epic and tech trance mixed in together in sets, and this is what a lot of the big non-psy trance DJs have been doing. See to you, these DJs might not have variety or you might think it all sounds the same, and I will agree to a point that some of the newer trance stuff is rehashed sounds and structures, however the same can be said about psy as well...so it's a two way street.

And to the 3-4 days, well maybe with psy after you just dance and not focus on the music, as pointed out somewhere in this thread about the music itself not being the focus but the experience, the dancing etc. Which is great, but there has to be some focus on the music and a lot of the trance stuff that isn't psy wasn't really designed with 3-4 days parties in mind, but rather club nights lasting 6 to 8 hours, or festivals that may last a few days but with a lot of different genres, not just trance music. The scenes are different, the ideas are a little different, but not one is better than the other, just people like them for different reasons. I personally would rather be at a party for a day or 6-8 hours at a club then 3-4 days at a psy event..
