Iran is a "democracy" - as long as you ignore the fact that the unelected Supreme Spiritual Leader is the real source of power in Iranian politics; and that the reactionary Council of Guardians filters out the genuine reformist candidates for parliament and the presidency; or that the Revolutionary Guards ultimately provide the force that underpins clerical rule.

And let's not forget the vigilantes of Ansar-e-hezbollah, who go around beating up students and immodestly-attired women.

Don't let Iran's "president" fool you with skillfully crafted propaganda.

Iran has a constitutional theocracy, and is not a democracy by any intentional definition. The whole idea of democracy is being able to choose the laws you live under, representative democracy is about choosing the people that will write the laws you want to live under and Iran doesn't offer anything like that -- you vote for radical Islamicist A or radical Islamicist B because those are the choices the mullahs give you.

Of the +1000 nominees for President, +900 were prevented from running by the ruling theocrats. The same thing happens with their legislature every time they have an "election" for those seats too. They also regularly veto laws that contradict Islamicist values, while directly authoring the others.

Well said..but where's the actual article (s) you got all this from?!

found some of it here;

It's no different than the bull in any of Bush's speeches. Obviously a lot of what this guy says makes sense... but some of it is horse manure. I kinda lost interest when he started babbling about religion.

as only the moronic autocrat Bush can, he dismisses this letter as being void of having one aspect of policy change or proposal...much like his entire presidency.

kudos to the letterwriter, and an additional 10 points for questioning Bush on his prior knowledge of 9/11.

I love the fact that he is telling Bush to off basically and Bush has nothing to say to him, because to him everyone is s terrorist anyways.

This president is exactly what Bush needs,Someone just as fanatic as himself.

There is no point in re-phrasing what has already been eloquently stated by others.

You're being quite near-sighted if all you're looking for is someone to deface Bush. I'm not saying I agree with everything he does, hell I think he's been just plain stupid about many things - but the Iranian president certainly is not the right person to go out and deface Bush.

I didn't really bother reading this whole thing; as has previously been said, I too lost interest in the letter once he started basing things on strict religion. Though I did keep reading a fair bit after, it just started sounding really dumb and repeatative to me. The letter looks like it was sent just for the sake of pissing people off and creating commotion among the denizens of the world - chiefly in the U.S., of course.

RJ: Regardless of where that came from I think that was probably the most accurate/appropriate thing to say IMO, well done.

why not?he talks just like Bush and talks about god all the time and he also claims that god helps him in his decision makings again just like Bush.

These two guys are made for eachother and I hope they end up kill eachother because the world would be better off without them.

The letter is too long and has no pictures - My guess is Bush just didn't bother reading it and watched TV instead...:haha:
Moral Hazard
There is nothing quiet as entertaining as two heritics claiming to be true followers of their faith bickering over which one of them is just and which will suffer "divine retribution." Despite their claims neither of these men act in accordence with that which they espouse to believe.

This letter is nothing but propaganda from a country that ceratinly has no right to question what goes on anywhere else in the world.

This week is was decreed that women could not attend soccer games in Iran.

A Canadian educator is currently being held prisoner in the country in the same prison where a Canadian journalist was BRUTALY murdered a few years ago.

Last year, two young men 16 and 18, were held prisoner for over a year. Tortured, and finally hung. Their crime? They were gay...

Whilst I understand that many do not support the actions of the US and its' president over the past few years, let's not affirm the daily violations of basic human rights by a repressive government...don't buy into this attempt to divert the real issue. Imagine this government with nuclear technology?

If you have the stomach for it...watch the video in the link below and then ask yourself what knid of letter should western governments send to this lunatic...

Video of Stoning to Death - Islam in action
Stoning to death is still carried out in the current era, in Iran and was carried out in the previous Taliban-ruled Afghanistan. ...
