I guess it might scare away the loons like in orangeville...
WONT SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHIL, UM I MEAN LOONS??
This kind of "forward" thinking is why Canada will never be a world class country. |

| Its crazy that they wouldn't approve this as the location is a bloody speedway! I think they should be used to LOTS of noise coming from the races. Plus have you ever seen the type of hicks that go to these. WAY sketchier than ravers. |

youd think... but im willing to bet the neighbours and councillors actually go to races.
If it doesnt benefit them why should they allow it? Thats the new theme in canadian society. And that mentality is also widely support on TOTA. So why are TOTAs surprised when that same mentality comes back to haunt them? |

The ones bitching prolly dont see that (or they dont care).
The immediate temporary annoyance that could be place upon them is all they see. Anything else doesnt matter enough... :clown: |

which benefits businesses but city councils are generally not concerned about businesses. The municipal model set up in ontario favours homes and property tax. This is why the city is so gung ho about building as many condos as they can and knocking down everything in its path to do so.
Events like this do very little for the economy as it relates directly to city hall. |

I believe this was made public a while back, or at least I heard about it quite a while ago.

Most people move out of the city because of the noise and traffic. Regardless of what events are held during the day, having music at night is not something these settlers want. Hey, even when you are at a camping site or a trailer park during a long weekend, people complain when there is noise after 12, even though people go to these places a lot of time to socialise.
So maybe it's time to do what Detroit and Miami are doing, and hold this event during the day. Get the whole city of Toronto to support it, and have the local clubs handle the afterhours debauchery. Of course if this is done, then the event will loose its attraction of being an overnight event at a campground. Plus it might take some shine off the Pride parade and Guvernment events. |
