House Parties Suck

There was this houseparty the other day at a friends house. The event was huge you couldn't move anywhere; it was packed. In the corner there was a dj booth with 3 djs spinning. When I arrive at the party I am asked if I can to do a mix, so naturally I accept and go back home to get my stuff quickly. I get back to the party at 11:30 so this is the point where it's getting cracking and I am put on. I mix in the first song, a little shaky mix but I am getting used to the equipment, then I mix the next song and that turned out well. I mix in the third song and when I go to backspin some girl (friend) taps my arm and I bring down the wrong volume fader after the backspin; basically made me look like an idiot. Whatever, I think I got more songs to mix. Then when I go back to the other deck its all wet. The girl who hit my arm to say hi dropped her dring all over the cdj. This was a rather new cdj-1000mk2 and now its gone. When i tried loading a cd it gave me this memory card message. I was like are you kidding me!? first time i dj on 1000mk2s and I only get to mix 3 songs. It sucked and I feel so bad about the kid who owns the equipment. I couldn't even sleep. But yeah house parties suck.

learn the listen man, at a house party always make sure the booth is closed from around you to prevent drunk ppl touching the equipment and situations like that

+1. Drunk people at parties have no repect for the equipment or the dj usually.

I would say put the dj booth on the deck or something and make sure only the sobre people can go up there at most.

people are wits.

i played a house party once and this guy ignored the nice big sign saying "no drinks" on the equipment table, and decided to start pouring himself one. i put my hand out to stop him, give him the "uh uh" fingerpoint, and for some reason he thinks its a good idea to then bang his glass on the table repeatedly. now, i was mid mix so naturally the needle skips. glass & drink end up all over the floor as i bash the out of his hands whilst correcting. stupid cvnt.

House parties = $$$
They suk but if everyone is drunk who cares how shocking your mixing is?

RapidFire
thats a lesson. next time a girl taps you on the shoulder while youre djing you leave the decks and go make out with her.
DJ 00 Tommy

Sorry just have had an emotional crap fuking day... week... month.
