| I'm so paranoid with my stuff, if someone wanted me to do a house party I'd probably make them sign a legal contract declaring they'd pay for any damages. :p |

House parties are usually good, but i hate when people are jumping and the floor bounces and then my needles skips. The things I learned with house parties is that if you dj, you need to be as far away from the crowd as possible and also try not to dj events where people know you cause they come up and try to say hi while your in mid mix and then think your an a$$ for not saying hi.:whip:
finally make sure you get your money before you start the party...drunk people postpone payments:mad: |

AGREED - the floors can get bouncing hugely. Besides being bad for regular decks if you have a laptop the hard drive can get wrecked so try to get positioned offside or the next room where the floor is steady and nobody can crash into the gear or slosh drinks on it.
Anther thing is finding the right speakers for the job if that's up to you. PA speakers are loud but don't sound so good in small rooms. |

i suggest not bothering djing at house parties. they are big piss ups where either:-
1. no one cares about the music cos they are all too drunk
2. the girls dont like trance so leave, then all the guys leave cos there's no fit girls= party
or
3. 99.9995% of the time the sound system is so no one can hear anything anyway.
just chuck a nice cd on and have a good time. |

Floorboards can bounce to the point where its bad for a HDD?
I find this dificult to understand/believe. |

Not really - why would they even have a DJ there if nobody cared?

Part of being a good DJ is playing the stuff the crowd wants, not what you want (though that doesn't mean you should play stuff you hate). If your playing is making people leave then clearly you're doing something wrong.
I've played a fair few house parties myself and never had any bad experiences (not counting destroyed speakers etc ;) ) since I know all the people attending the party and therefore know what they want to listen to as well. |

that are the main reasons why i don't do it anymore.
also, i hate bringing my own equipment, its just too expensive to be damaged by some ass that thinks he's cool when messing with my equipment pretending he's a dj. |
