Not really - why would they even have a DJ there if nobody cared?
Part of being a good DJ is playing the stuff the crowd wants, not what you want (though that doesn't mean you should play stuff you hate). If your playing is making people leave then clearly you're doing something wrong.
I've played a fair few house parties myself and never had any bad experiences (not counting destroyed speakers etc ;) ) since I know all the people attending the party and therefore know what they want to listen to as well. |
my points were made with one or more of them being true for any party. im envious of you if you have had the chance to dj in a perty and none of these points have been true.
remember that in the uk the trance scene is very small these days. most do not like trance even tho they were buying system f - out of the blue a few years ago and loving it. im not gonna change my style (which i am proud of and have taken since 98 to build) to play ty commercial music - this is all that the majority of 'university/college' parties are about. the majority are very un cultured and only care about getting drunk. most of the time the dj is just there for the fact that the organiser can say "we got a dj at our party" or for a wannabe dj to get his/her first set. |

Believe me, I live in Finland - I know what small trance scene means.
I guess it's the fact that everyone at the parties I've been to are closer to 25 than 20 so they act accordingly as well... |

Floorboards can bounce to the point where its bad for a HDD?
I find this dificult to understand/believe. |
When the floor is going up & down over an inch at 135 bpm I think that is too many Gs, it's happened at 2 diffrent house parties where I had my stuff. Mostly caused by a few excited people jumping up & down so the bumps are quite sharp. Lots of houses are not very solidly built in my area.
In clubs sometimes they buld a concrete footing anchored to the basement and the DJ table sits on that. So the table is rock solid while the dance floor bounces around. |

LOL well these were old houses, I guess the joist wood in the floors was not too strong. Strong enough for the usual stuff but not partying.
Even in my modern house a man walkig quickly will cause the floor 10 feet away to move noticeably - they should have put extra beams underneath to support the joist boards better. Cheapskate builders. |

I think people actually care about the music thats being played at houseparties because I have seen dj's clear dancefloors at houseparties. Also why are people idiots and decide to friggin touch the record while its playing and then scratch with it...wtf are you kidding me? I must have at least 15-20 records with huge scratch marks from idiots bumping the tonearm while trying to "scratch." I actually after this year am stopping house parties...I get paid way to little for the amount of stuff I bring
(In case you were wondering, I get about 100 dollars a night for house party) |
