if a "Challenged" person thinks that if you take 2 things and add 2 more and you get 10 things and they belived this with the utmost convition it does not make them right... if your talking about semantics thats a different story..but the concept taht there are 4 things present is a reality

2+2=4 is provable its not comfortableness issue or a "think out of the box" issue... its comfortable cuz its reality

people need to realize there is a limit to relativism... people seem to think that they are "deep" or "intelligent" if they view everything in realtive terms.. i disagree... there are absolutes in the world - things are provable

if someone perceives something as blue when it is really red, they have perceved it differntly... it doesnt change the fact that it is what it is (the object is red.)

okay okay youre right i guess.... i overstepped the boundaries of what this discussion was really about haha my bad

:p

i think time exists and its passes at a steady rate, which for the convenience of our understanding we have assigned arbitrary measurements, such as minutes, hours, days, etc. what is manipulatable (sp) is our perception of time and its passage.

well put! ....... imo - for dani :gsmile: )

i'm taking everything into consideration...it's really interesting.. still trying to see if i can make some sort of definition for what it is.. it's more than just mass-motion tracking i think..

i would define time as existence and reality.. things exist within the construct of time... time is the "movement" from one imediate moment to the next.. it is continual and unalterable.. without which nothing can exist - man has made devices to measure time and put it into logical organization based on the movements of the earth relative to the distance earth travels around the sun.. but that is just a tool to measure of time.. (much like a ruler is a tool to measure distance - but does not define the essence of distance)

hey! that was my opinion said in different words!... so what were we arguing about? hahaha

the problem saying time is

for an example if I am in a jet plane going 600 MPH and You are standing "Still" on the ground your watch looks like it is going slower then my watch.

Another thing that is possible is if there is a Long Pole moving at a fast speed say the pole is 100 FT long, and imagine that the pole is moving through a hallway that has 2 doors 75 feet apart. At the moment the pole reaches the furthest door, you could theoreticly close both doors that are 75 feet apart and the "100 ft" long pole would be in between the doors.

Thats where the idea of time breaks down. And why movement and positin in space is the only thing that matters imo.

the operative phrase you used is "Looks Like" - it isn't actually going slower...

and your pole confuses me...
