So the MWTA's are pretty mixed as far as reviews of this mix - And I don't know if that suprises me or it makes sense; The reviews in other forums have been pretty much glowing, and I'm not saying that they should be, it's just interesting to see that pretty much the only negative criticism I've gotten has been in MWTA...
In any event - I appreciate the honesty ;)
And hope some of you out there are really diggin' this - It's probably going to be the last one from me for a bit just because I'm personally so happy with how it turned out, that I don't really mind having this "define" my sound for a bit... :) |

not negative rob, constructive criticism :D and since we're all ur friends, i'm sure you'd appreciate honest criticism to make yourself stronger.
i'm sure everyone in mwta would only like you to grow and develop as a dj. i sure as hell would like all my friends to reach their potential.
:D :D :D |

Lol... no worries Pork; I'm not the kind of guy who thinks "negative criticism" is necessarily a bad thing. Criticism, as long as it's constructive, can be both positive and negative, and I'll appreciate it all, positive or negative, as long as it's constructive.
And I certainly appreciate the MWTA's complete honesty with me regarding all my sets; It's interesting to see the differing opinions on each set that comes up, sometimes people out there dig stuff in my sets that I personally think may be a touch weak, and sometimes stuff I think is grade-A material is seen as poor by others. Regardless of it all, it helps me as a DJ, and certainly allows me to look at things with a different perspective than my own, which is absolutely the greatest benefit/gift that I can be given by anyone who takes the time to really listen to my sets.
So whether it's the tracklist, programming, mixing, or anything else, I want to hear it all, good or bad. I don't mean to compare myself to someone as brilliant as James Holden, because I don't think anything I've done touches something like Balance 005, but for every person who thinks Balance 005 is a masterpiece, there's at least one or two folks who find it an utter bore. I guess what I'm trying to say is that not every set is going to be for everyone, but the criticism that comes from both sides of the fence is going to be what spurns me on and inspires me to continue on finding new ways to innovate as an artist.
I appreciate the MWTA's and respect many of the MWTA opinions moreso than almost any others - And honestly, I do listen to every bit of feedback I get with an open mind, and don't instantly write off any negative comments as unfounded. I'm an amateur trying to hone his craft to become the best DJ I am capable of becoming; I can't afford to disregard criticism. :) |

A fine example of unconstructive criticism.
Don't worry though, I'm confident you didn't even listen to it and are just trying to stir . |

I did listen to it. My honest opinion is that you should stick to school. Perhaps become a lawyer or something. You seem smart enough for it.
Hey, if you have the talent for the stuff, I think its great. If not, thats cool too. Most djs make for pay anyways.
If you do this stuff for yourself, more power to you. I just wouldnt expect to make it that far as a dj if I were you.
Thats my honest opinion. Not trying to be a dick. |

Alright, I'm sorry let me try this again.
YOU SUCK AT THE INTERNET.
Why?
Lets see.
Every single person on this board thinks you're a complete joke and utter waste of bandwidth. Yet you continue to add your 2 cents and pointless diatribe wherever you feel the need to make your insignificant existence on this forum known. Nobody gives a . Stop wasting everyones ing time.
I applaude you for finding a way to top a completely useless post:
...with an even more back-asswards post that 1. Still doesnt offer any constructive criticism, and 2. is an even bigger waste of bytes, as it contains MORE text.

Ok, lets see why no one is going to give a about this. So far, you have posted a grand total of 0 mixes on this forum. Which tells us your experience in DJing and mixing electronic music amounts to JACK SQUAT (/motivational speaker).
What incentive have we, then, to heed your opinion on whether or not he has the talent for it, or should expect to make it as a dj. If I wanted to know what a good price for a transvestite hooker in Bali was, I MIGHT ask you first. If I wanted to laugh my ass off at some loser who pays out of his ass for a handjob, I MIGHT ask you to tell me all about THAT story...

That right there tells me (and the rest of us) that you dont have a ing clue. The only people here who aren't DJing for themselves first should not be DJing. Creating an hour+ long stream of music that chugs along on a journey and evolves through various moods is an art. Its self expression. Its taking a bunch of music that you love personally and putting it together to make one piece that is a whole, finished work. We put our mixes up here for FEEDBACK. Not DJ Career counselling. If people enjoy the sounds, great, if they dont, fair enough, so long as they have some reasons. I dont care if you dont think he's gonna get far as a DJ. And neither does anyone else...
Why? Because first of all, if you KNEW anything about what you're talking about...you'd know that most big DJ's get where they are through promotion and not talent. Its all hype. Talent doesnt have much to do with it these days unfortunatley, how good you are at selling yourself does. Kind of like hookers. It may have given you a really crap blowjob but DAMN did those stockings look fine strutting on the curb!
Does that make a little more sense to you? I hope it does, you seem smart enough for it. And I hope after this you quit wasting everyones ing time and go back to emptying your wallet on some whore who has 35 different diseases.
People may not like all the tracks in this mix, but the way it is put together is ing solid and displays alot of effort and time put into it...that right there warrants some respect, so please show a little. |

IT'S NO CLARITY THROUGH THE FOG
Just kidding. I finally got a chance to listen to this fully and I must say that I liked it quite a bit, fairly laid back for the most part but with a punch just at the right moment.
My inner nerd thought that the beginning reminded of Final Fantasy II theme which was kind of odd since I haven't played the game in years.... it started to chug quite nicely along and then I got thrown off around the 13:39 mark, the track dropped off quite suddenly and that was kinda awkward. Also synths around the 26-27 minute mark sounded kinda off, but other than that I liked this one very much actually.
It's definitely a solid example of furry house the way I envision it. Some parts towards the end are quite melodic as well which is what i think has been missing from a lot of tracks lately so that was quite wonderful to hear, particularly the last 2 tracks that closed the set.
I'd write more, but my sleep deprived brain can barely function as is. |
