I could agree on these three. And also add in Helsinki Scorchin', whether or not you lot think it's overplayed. It'll easily be in contention for ch00n of 2006, and I say rightfully so. There's a reason why it's "overplayed". |

I hear Swing 2 Harmony two months ago. I know it sounds like I've been living under a rock, but the first time I heard it I was like WOW! This is why I dismiss comments like "overplayed". Just like you said there's a reason why they're overplayed. Although that philosophy is limited to a certain extent. |

Yeah, I can admit it's a bit of a faulty philosophy, but tracks that are considered classics by most are as reliable as the dj mag poll for basing an actual dj's skill. |

I'm sorry but that to me is rubbish, surely a classic is defined not only by that but mainly by how good it was! I'm sure there were groundbreaking tracks that were terrible yet they wouldn't be considered classics. There are many awesome tracks which probably aren't that groundbreaking yet are definate classics.
Anyway, with regards to modern day classics I'll go for
Primer - Everlast
Jonas Steur - Second Turn
Alex M.O.R.P.H. Presents Everest - Oree
Plus there must be loads more but they're just off the top of my head...
There are many many from 2002 sorta time i don't know if you including them of classics 'of our time' |

I dont exactly know what you think things should sound like to not be "generic". But there was nothing the sounded like The White Room at that time wheather you like or not or how much you think it sounded like an older tune. Cant recall many people saying what you have when it first bust onto the scene
As for a modern "classic" prob:
Hammer & Bennett - Language. Think that will still get played in a few years time. |

thinking objectively, marcel woods - advanced & dogzilla - without you. purely for the fact that not many big tunes can boast getting played out frequently for over a year and still send places crazy. both stood out too, were different to most of the stuff in the scene
for me personally, i regard alot of stuff from 03/04 as classics because i was only just getting into clubbing around that time. i'd been into the music for 5/6 years prior but clubbing kinda brought in a second wave... in 10 years time it'll be the clubbing memories i'll look back on and those tunes will be the ones i'll remember..:

never did like castamara much, but it's nice to see the odd 'future classic' (which i guess it is.. in the eyes of asot fans) thrown in with the oldies. gives the impression the scene isn't completely stuck in the past |
