"Aftermath" was a dancefloor killer because it had one infectious melody to it, and even though it didn't go anywhere or do anything, people liked hearing the track just break all the way down and build back up again. At the end of the day, "Aftermath" was bound to have a relatively short shelf life.

As far as "Gebruenn Gebruenn" is concerned, I can see perhaps criticizing the repetitive percussive section, but IMO it's necessary to frame the rest of the track, which in a lot of ways feels more like a 97-98 era improvised "techno jam" from a Phish set than an EDM production - The introduction of each small element in the rest of the track is, IMO, brilliant. I think it's a perfect set ender/encore - I personally don't want to hear someone drilling my skull with some banging track to end a set. But like you said, to each their own, and I figure I should stop posting anyway since with your next post I'm sure you will "pwn" this "argument" just like any other discussion you take part in here.

I actually think Gebrunn Gebrunn sounds better as an opener (like on Holden's At the Controls or Jonathan Lisle's 5 hour Proton mix from last fall. The buildup kind of has this growing momentum like an old-style train taking off and building speed.

Also, Digweed finished with the same track when he played with Sasha back in March in NYC, though Sasha dropped one more afterwards, then they played an encore.

yeah, but guess what. $40 per ticket to see PVD in Central Park! i thought for sure that show was free! now i'm not even sure if i really wanna go... so we can always rethink our dates if we wanna stick around for Glaude/Sander.

HAHAHAHAHA. Free Made Events shows in NYC. :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

Wow, you so don't live here. BTW, get tickets soon, they'll be $50 by the time the show comes around. I got Friday tickets for $30 back in March when they announced the first show, and they've been going up incrementally since then.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be a jerk about it and I wasn't making fun of you. :(

It's just funny to me because in the NY forum, everyone bitches about the costs of events, especially the ones done by Made Events. If you went over and looked at any of the 4-5 threads on this event, there's probably price bitching in each one.

no worries. i don't read the NY forum very often and my experience with clubs/events in NY is limited since i was underage when i lived there... but i just assumed it was free since i know many other shows in Central Park have been free in the past.

now that i know... i won't be attending. PVD is cool, but i can't justify spending money like that for a DJ i'm not crazy about.

but if you know of any other sweet shows in NY coming up in the month of August, let me know... ;)

I can read just fine thank you very much. You better hope I don't run into you on Friday or anywhere else.

All of the DJ events I've been to at CP have charged admission, but some bands are free. Dave Matthews on the Great Lawn @ CP in 2003 was, but it was for charity, so you were supposed to donate money. Actually, a lot of bands that I'd consider seeing have been charging. Ani Difranco is $35 this year, I think.

That said, you can hear the music from outside, and probably see the lasers, and I think some NYTAs are planning to just party outside the fences in the park and listen to the music without paying.

As for August parties, check this thread later in June and into July for events that are coming up. There hasn't been much announced for the summer, yet, so we don't even know what's happening in July for the most part. I do know that Mathew Johnson is at PS1, which is a warm-up outdoor party in Queens on 8/19, which is the same day as PvD, so you might be interested in that. You can look for info on that here or here

Now I'm going to run away before I get hit in the crossfire of drama. I have to dodge enough bullets in NYTA as it is. :haha:
