My first gig last night

Like it says i had my first gig last night at a club. I have been playing for about 8 months now and i was stokes about it. I was so fuc*ing nervous when i got up. That was the most nervous i had ever been in my life i believe. I played from 9:30 to 10:45 and the crowd was at about 75 to a 100 people when i got off. the only 2 bad things were most of my songs were on cd and they only had one cd player but i made due with what i had on vinyl so that worked out, and the other thing is my style of music is trance to prog trance from about 135 to 141 bpm. That totally clashed with the next dj music. But the chicks liked what i did and that made me feel good.

P.S. I had a hangover this morning from drinking to much after i got off to help me quit shaking!!!

What kind of crap club has only one CD player?

Well at least you managed. ;)

Well they had a dual dennon there that looked like it fell off the booth a couple of times and no one was using it so i took it that it didnt work and the other dj brought his technics cd player.

So really you had no proper, trustworthy cd players to use... :p

Glad you made it through your first gig... I wasn't quite as nervous as you sound like you were... once I was up and playing the nerves settled down except during transistions.. haha..

what felt crazy were the first 2 songs have a good pase to them and they toooooook fooooreveeer to go by. they didnt even sound the same as they do at my house. but i kept it cool and let them play.

Can't wait till I get to play out. And yeah, I'd probably be nervous as too. ;)

i had 2 beers before i got on and felt ok untill i grabed the needle and could barley set it on the record. but nerves are good sometimes keep you on your edge.

The first time i was playing out i was trying to think of excuses to get out of it :haha: But i got in the club had some beers, couple shots took to the decks an the nerves were gone :)

Yep, a few help. Just don't get wasted! That would be very bad.

I just played out for the second time at a real club 2 weeks ago. Played for 4 hours! That was different, let me tell you :)

I was geting crappy warm up slots (9pm till around 10.30pm) where i had to play music i didnt even like, but then my friend who promotes a club here give me a chance to play properly (11.30pm till 12.45am) and it was excellent, the dance floor filled up when i came on an the buzz i got was like nothing else, hell i even had random people taking pitcures of me with their mobile phones :haha: The liscening laws over here suck tho, its usualy 9pm till 2am, some clubs even have to close at 1.30am!! i wish i could do somthing about that, because clubs in the mainland (England) can stay open till like 6am :(

I don't know why DJs on warm up sets so much, they are an integral part of a good night... I for one love being given to opportunity to play a nice warm up set-

very true, although it can be annoying if noone arrives at the club until just before you finish so your not actually vwarming anyone up but the bar staff!

even more annoying when the DJ after you cant play a warmup set and starts banging out the anthems, or even worse is just really , has happened to me on a couple of occasions
